You do realize stock 3800's knock even in N/A form from the factory correct? Which means pulled timing...and possibly even making less power than your car...sure...especially if yours is in good shape. I'd be willing to bet my custom tuned N/A 3800 with NO knock on the junk 91 I run in it everyday would put a hurtin' on any 3100 car on this forum.
i agree with most of what your sayin, but not the last part, if you have/build a 3100/3400 its not going to be so you can drag it as least not in a w-body,
ppl that bulid up these motor could care less about takeing it to the strip,
mine and couple others i know are for the street, not racing for light to light(nothing stupid like that) just having a nice quick little grocery getter is all there really for a good DD that has some balls and gets good mpg's at the same time,
yeah you can get high 20s with a 3800 but thats if you baby it, im getting low 30s and thats at cruising at 80mph and med acc.
so ill take my 170 hp dd all day long getting good gas mileage and still being able to beat other cars on the road..
idk about you others but thats just fine with me

hey now dont be so mean, nothing proves it more then a good'ol butt dyno :th_laugh-lol3:Monte man... You are clearly convinced you are right and no amount of evidence will convince you otherwise.
Which specific comment do you believe is inaccurate, and what evidence do you have to prove your view is right? I am just trying to understand why you are motivated to stir things up here in the 3.1 section.Monte man... You are clearly convinced you are right and no amount of evidence will convince you otherwise.
Sorry for the long winded rant now, but here is my current view on performance motors, and cars in general. My street racing days started in the early 1970's. Mustang 302, Camaro SS 396 and Z/28 302. All while still in High school. I was the ultimate gearhead then. My Z/28 I built that with the right tires would pull the front wheels off the ground 6 inches hitting second gear. The first phase of my take on street racing was to be the fastest, no matter what I came up against. This is a no win deal. The guys with hemi cudas, cobrajet mustangs and a daddy with more money to invest than I had did beat me. The next phase was in the 80's to have a car that would outrun a police car.(dont ask, I did no so good things then). I survived that which leads me to current take on street racing. I want a car that when up against a same body type and displacement, I will have the edge. I think I could beat most 3.1 types out there. This is where driving skill, handling comes into play as well. All I am saying is performance is relative when comparing apples to apples.
