• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

97 GTP has hardly any power.

Plugs are roughly 3 months old .
Wires are new from ngk.
Running regular octain 87
I dont put nothing in the gas,
Stock pully
No pcm programmin done
Post are clean on the coil packs and trottle body screen is left there stock and is in place..

.... Soo thats why i have power before it warms up.. Should i change my thermostate?you think i need plugs. Which ones should i get? Help me out plz

You need to be running premium fuel. This very well could be your problem. Put in premium and repost your results.

Found the knock problem. Very gently and nicely w/o going past 1/3 throttle burn off the rest of your tank and fill up with 93 octane from now until you sell the car. leave the plugs and wires alone. they are likely fine.

The reason octane is so important in these motors is because of the added boost pressure. What happens is the cylinders get hot very quickly and that can make lower octane fuel burn before the spark ignites it. This causes predetonation. The more boost, the more likely the air/fuel charge will ignite before the correct time. It's also very easy to chip a piston when beating it this way. The octane keeps the fuel from igniting as easily.

Would octane booster do the same as running higher octAne? If soo what should i buy. 93 octane is expensive here in canada ontario..

Octane booster usually raises octane one point. Meaning if you start wtih 87.0 octane, you end up with 87.1 octane. that's a lot of booster.

Yes it is expensive for you. I have friends up there. It's what your car was born to guzzle. Sorry.

Yes, the power loss you have is due to detonation and your computer is reducing the timing to save your motor. Your lucky if you didn't already chip a piston or trash your engine.

If you have to... drain the gas... sell it to someone.... and get 93. You have a very high potential of ruining your engine running 87 octane.

I knew nothing about what octane actually did before I had a supercharged car either. Once you find out it's like ...Oh.. crap.

In your case it'll be "oh crap .....eh!"

Holly Shiattt ehh. soo thats why i have no power on take off? ill run 93 octane in it and see if it changes anything.... if it dosent then that cant be the issue here... ill post it up wen i filler up. i only have 1/4 tank left ... ill run it till below empty and fill it.

is it running hot? those superchargers get real warm under that plastic cover on top of the motor. just take it off and try running it like that.

yea it runs really hot , i noticed that as well. you open the hood and its like wow. but the temp gauge is fine. and now i cant wait to try it:P

Keep in mind.. the pcm will be using the low octane timing tables it's gonna take maybe 50 miles or so until you start seeing the timing come back. Without the knock though..you will likely feel power within the first 20 miles.

If you don't, then it's very probable that you chipped a piston and need a motor. Shattt doesn't quite desribe the feeling you'll have if you hurt the motor by using crap gas. Hopefully ...the pcm saved you.

Re: Champion Spark Plugs?!?!:S

Any mods?

Stock car or a few bolt ons but still a stock pulley I'd say AL605 or 606's gapped @ .050".

3.4" setup...AL104's.

How To reduce as much KR possible.

What mods can i do to eliminate as much KR possible on my stock GTP with the 3.8 pulley.
ill be wanting to put a 3.4 -3.2 inch pulley on later soo i wanna get prepared and reduce KR first. i know the u bend delete is one. but what else.?? i already have a cold air system too . anyone can help a newbie out :) thanks:)

its a 97 gtp
