My 2005 WRX STi - 6/28/2016 dyno tune update 429 AWHP/377 AWTQ on 93 octane

Re: My 2005 WRX STi (new pics on pg 5)

FWIW....I had a dream i had this car last night. no lie.

EDIT: It was epic.

Re: My 2005 WRX STi (new pics on pg 5)

Got my accessport today. TBE won't be here until sometime next week.

The stage 1 OTS tune made the car run better but it actually feels slower. The car used to boost spike around 3K rpm's and throw you back in the seats. Felt great for me, not good for the car though. Power delivery is much more smooth now. once the TBE is on I'll be going stage 2 and that should be pretty nice for go fast bits for now. Then it's on to replacing the clunky struts (a problem all STi's have) with oilcovers, upgrading swaybars and bushings and whatever else I decide to do.

Re: My 2005 WRX STi (new pics on pg 5)

what brands are you looking at for those oilcovers?

I haven't really looked into them yet to be honest, I just know I want to replace my clunky struts with a nice set of oilcovers. I'm open to suggestions.

Pink accents if you're a man. STI logo is pinkish anyways, so you have an excuse lol ;)

I love it man, it's perfect.

it's cherry blossom red, thanks.

as far as the coilovers go, how much are you willing to spend and what are you looking to do with them? i can give some great suggestions from when i was researching brands. i flip flopped more than a few times on which ones i was going to buy.

I'm not sure how much they normally sell for, like I said I haven't looked at any at all. I'd definitely can't spend over $1000, preferably I'd like to stay under $800 but I don't know if that's even reasonable? Should I look into used ones?

and yeah, cherry blossom red is right. These fools need to learn the difference :P

Re: My 2005 WRX STi (new pics on pg 5)

I didn't call it pink, I said it's "pinkish" lol

I knew there was a specific name for the color, just slipped my head ;)

Re: My 2005 WRX STi (new pics on pg 5)

if youre not willing to spend $1100 or so on coilovers i would skip them completely and just put springs ont he car. it's not worth your time to get cheap ones like i have.

Re: My 2005 WRX STi (new pics on pg 5)

It's not so much for the look as it is that my struts clunk like all GD STi's do. The only way to get aroudn that is sending them out to be re-valved or replacing them with something other than stock struts.

Re: My 2005 WRX STi (new pics on pg 5)

my understanding is that the struts themselves cause the clunking. I can try to repack them with grease myself, it works for some guys but not everyone.

Re: My 2005 WRX STi (new pics on pg 5)

Picking up a used set of 4 Potenza RE-11's for $40 :D

They're probably only going to last through the summer but for $40 I can't pass them up.
