Question about 04+ intake.

I havnt found any how-to's on a 04+ intake and I've been looking for awhile, they're all 03 on down.

I know they're 99% the same, but the one thing I have a question on is that there's a vacuum connection on the stock intake tubing that it seems like the 03- cars dont have, and so the best way to handle that isnt covered. All that's covered in the how-to's I've read is the IAT.

So any suggestions on how to handle the vacuum tube when making an intake for an 04+? Just gunna use a coupler to go from TB to 4" pvc with a 22.5* or 45* bend, not sure if the 22.5 would fit, maybe with a little bit of a smaller filter? Also gotta fit the MAF somewhere in there too... I wanna be able to remove that bellows tubing... which is the reason I need a way to deal with that vacuum tube.

I also seem to have a canister type thing almost under the air box, that I cant identify closer to the radiator area... it has a hose running from the back center of the engine to the canister, then another hose that runs from the canister into the air box... what is that? I dont see anyone cover that thing in their how-tos either..

I've been reading how-to's for weeks but I cant find any answers to these specific questions, it seems like all the how-to's on intakes are geared towards 03 and earlier, I see what they did with the vac line... I guess I could just drill a hole to match the size and then put some kind of sealant on there...

But I still dont know what the little canister to the underside of the air box is, front of the car... tube running from another thing on the top, rear, center of the engine, then another tube going from the thing under the airbox to the part of the airbox after the filter.

What's this thing to the lower left of the picture?

here's mine
ba5eee81.jpg

3" to 4" coupler.
4" pvc 45* pipe
4" to 3" coupler.
maf
cone.

drilled a hole for the pcv valve in the 3" to 4" coupler after i had marked where it needed to go.

batten down the hatches and you're good to go

Alright so after an hour of searching I finally discovered the answer, I think.

Im talking about 14,15, and 16... air pump and it's tubes, as well as 2 and 3 had me stumped... does nobody else here have that in that location?

Or had to deal with this when setting up an intake?

Also, thanks csssaint... that's the thread I've been working off, the air pump and the tube isnt mentioned in there though, and that was my question..
As I said, that along with many other threads about the same thing are all geared towards earlier models of GP, which I thought might not have these parts I was questioning.

Vailskier3 has a pretty clean setup. What I did was left everything from the MAF sensor back stock, then added a coupler and open cone. Make your own stabilizer brackets.

Yeah, that's the egr, I saw that in the diagram, lol.

I asked what that is, because that's next to the air pressure sensor, and I didnt know what the air pressure sensor was either... and the air pressure sensor was connected to the thing I was trying to figure out by my air box... but yeah mystery solved, lol.

Thanks everyone

...and yeah I like Vailskier's set up, Im gunna go off that I think.

Vailskier, one more question for you about your TB...

Looking at your picture, you have that little white pin in the top of your TB connector that I have... I cant find that in anybody else's pictures... How do you get that out to remove the tb connector? I pulled on it pretty hard and it's not moving in any direction.. I dont wanna break it, lol.

It seems like the white tab should pull out towards the front of the car, then the grey part should pull up, right?

This little white clip is what Im talking about... my connector doesnt just pull up, unless you have to pull on it ridiculously hard... I've pulled on both parts hard enough that Im afraid Im gunna break it off.. and other pictures I've seen of 04+ guys, Vailskier is the only one that I've seen that clip on their tb connector.

Everyone else just has the grey part that pulls straight up :\

ok i see what your talking about. im not sure what the clip is as i dont have one (mines an 04) but the gray tab behind it pulls straight up (but doesnt come out) then the harness pulls off. id guess thats just a retention clip of some kind. im not gonna tell you you dont need it on account of im not sure, but i will tell you i dont have one and theres never been a problem.

yeah, i tried to take that off when i did my hv3 so i could make it easier, but i couldn't get it off. it just made it a little harder. so....why do you want to do this exactly? lol

Gunna clean my MAF and TB now that it's getting nicer weather out and Im gunna be putting an intake on... Im at 50k and Im pretty sure it's never been done... just need to get the damned tb off, lol..

Did you just pull on it towards the front of the car, or what? I might just say screw it and put as much force as I can on it... and see if it breaks or comes out the right way... lol

if it was me...yes me. id try til it breaks. again my 04 doesnt have one, and ive dealt with many 04 + that didnt. the gray clip has plenty of umph to hold the harness connector on
