• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

stopping power= installed

Needs A Turbo
got these for a steal.....gonna get black zinc coated drilled rotors down the line....put some standards on for now what a diff in braking power and distance :)

before (weak sauce brakes on a huge car :))

are those the F body set up? i just got some a little while ago, waiting for my pads to go, so i can feel good about doing the swap! haha. looks good.

dunno, i was drunk.

but i still thing the f-body brakes are a waste when the 12" upgrade works great and is cheaper by a considerable amount.

not when mini sold me these for 100 shipped POWDERCOATED :) whole up grade cost me 180$ new everything :)

Not to mention I believe the Fbodys have 2 pistons while the 12" kit has just a single piston. Correct me if I'm wrong though

i did my 12" brakes for $60. car stopped great.

damn thats cheap as hell....i love the f bodys however you can def feel diff with a bigger rotor and more pad contact combined, it exceeded my expectations...i tested em out real good the other day and if i wasnt wearin my seat belt i think my forehead woulda smacked the windshield...:th_biggrin2:

who needs brakes anyway?

i had the same mentality until traffic same to an abrupt stop the other day and me my fiance and kid were in the car....i truly wasnt sure the car was gonna stop and ended up veering onto the shoulder.....so i decided my life was worth the cash for a brake upgrade....shyt was scary

correct me if im wrong...the grand prix has single piston calipers, so the brake system is made to use single piston calipers. parts like the proportioning valves, abs box all that happy stuff. now youre using a dual piston caliper, youre feeling it stop better but i say its a myth. i had fbody brakes, $500 later and my car met the ass of a ranger. i called up Morad and got a complete 12'' upgrade for $75 calipers brackets etc. car stops hella better now. i think you guys are being fooled into thinking the fbody brakes stop better, i dont see how seeing as the GP is not set up to use a dual piston.

the only advantage to the dual piston is the larger pad contact are, equating more stopping power. Everything else is irrelevant as the piston volume is nearly identical. Be happy for him, he got a deal on very nice powdercoating good looking brakes!! I should know, i did them myself!!

....given there are two pistons instead of one...they are half as small as the single piston in the stock brakes it take the same amount of force to extend 2 pistons that equate to the size of a bigger single....and you get more pad and the pressure is now more evenly distributed on the pad which results in better bite and more stopping power :)...the only thing that has changed is more volume in the caliper which means more fluid thats all.....pads and rotors last longer now too as leverage is gained from the bigger rotors and you also decrease brake fade.....

haha bio that explains it. i've left weird messages that i couldn't explain either. i bought my whole set up for 30 dollars from a pull yard, and by the time i buy rebuild kits and powdercoat i'll have less than 70 dollars into the whole thing.
