• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Music Download Site

Can anyone recommend me a good music download site, one of the monthy fee types. It is a MUST that they do not use Digital Rights Management. I dont want to pay for the music and not be able to play it where I want to.

No, definitely not them. I just dropped them because they dont really have a good selection of main stream music. I got tired of searching for popular songs and coming up empty.

napster has re-worked their site again, now offering DRM free music. Amazon.com music is also DRM free.

I gotta a great song for you to hear Scotty!! It's new. They don't play it on the radio yet. It's Gone Gone Gone by Robert Plant & Allison Krauss. Odd pair but it's real 70's sounding and I really like it. You can hear it on limewire. It's under his name. Let me know what you think.

I got one for you Lori....its called "I cant get to......My Destination" its a parity of the Rolling Stones song "I cant get no satisfaction". I thought you might like it LOL.

I dont have Limewire so I'll have to see if I can check it out elsewhere.

I looked at Napster and Amazon and here's what I see:

1. Amazon clearly states no DRM and their downloads will play on any device but they have no monthly membership option.

2. Napster has a monthly membership option but they dont so clearly state that I could find their downloads have no DRM and they dont appear to work on any MP3 device. I dont have one of the big name brand MP3 players.

why is it that you want a monthly fee?

... and i see now that napster has not yet changed their format... it's coming but its not there yet.

I don't want to worry about whipping out the card each time I want to download a song or have a bunch of line entries in the bank of individual charges. With the monthly fee I get a certain number of downloads and its usually cheaper than buying the mp3's individually.

Zune Marketplace and a Zune Pass. 10 free tracks a month, DRM free. Unlimited music as well, but those have DRM. If you have a Zune, download them to your player and go. 4GB Zune new is $100. Might be able to find one of the older 30GB gen 1 ones on eBay for that as well.

Ehh Zune FTL I had a Zune and QUICKLY traded that bad boy in for the 2ND gen Ipod Touch, did not like it one bit. Plus you can't use iTunes on it or any of the games you can on the Touch which is why I like it. Microsoft bombed on the Zune :th_angry2:

Well I am just throwing this out there... You can just go ahead to a P2P or a torrent site and Download entire Discorgraphys in one go or find a song VERY easily and not pay anything :o

I torrent most stuff anymore. If I really like the music, I will buy the CD to support the artist, but that happens infrequently at most.
