How to- Retrofit Projectors 97-03 GP

Russ, I hear ya. Its funny how everyone thinks the higher the Kelvin rating the brighter the bulb. I too have had these arguments. Its useless as you say! Id like to shoot every damn Halogen headlight i see with a HID bulb. Hopefully you can get your Retros soon! The LED lights are bright. As long as they have them adjusted right the are great. But I have seen a few drivers who have no clue how to adjust and have them pointed high, TRUST ME they have glare then!! HAHA. I wish i had done demon eyes on mine with the halos i have, but didnt. Trying to tell my wife thats a great excuse to build another set! ;)

just finished my retro on my 2001 Gtp. Have one question.

I did swap the blue and white wires on the moto control harness to get the lights working. But now my high beam indicator comes on with my low beams and turns off with my highs. Anyone encounter this before?

The lights and solenoids function correctly, its just the high beam indicator that is "reversed".

The online customer support rep wasn't much help, tried adding a factory halogen to the empty socket on the oem harness and swapping wires. He even suggested that I remove the High beam indicator bulb and I'm not doing that.

Im not sure if its the moto harness or not..the customer service rep assured me that if the lights work it can't be the harness.

The two power feeds for low/high are switched. I swapped the wires as the how-to stated, but I got the same result as you. I used my power probe and found which 2 wires were power, switched them, and it worked correctly after that. Hope that helps. I could try and get a picture if you need it.

So the two end wires? Brown and edit:white? Middle edit:blue should still be ground then.

Sure if you don't mind posting a pic, I'd appreciate it.

Edited for color confusion...

This should work. Mine works flawlessly with the wires like this.

that was the fix, thank you for the help.

Sad thing is I swear I tried this before, I even got tired of re pinning the connector so I cut the harness and used shielded spade connectors to make it easier. I had it wrong apparently.

Nahh man it looks good! It's amazing what the bulb holder can do to the output... I noticed how it didn't seem bright at all so I checked the bulb placement and the clip was missing... Made a huge difference.

My output picture... I live on a huge hill so that's why they are high

I still think something is up with my driver side bulb. The tip of the bulb is chipped, but TRS is saying it won't affect the output and they won't replace it. That last pic on mine is at a pretty extreme angle pointing at my neighbors shed.

It might be the rotation being off but its hard to say unless your further back on level ground on a big wall. Which is hard to find surprisingly lol, everything is sloped so it sucks.

There's a club gp post with some good pics in it. And there's cleans thread that has some good pics of how the shrouds need to be cut.
