Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With NEW Double Din & Installed.

Bluetooth is very nice to have. I got an alpine head unit with bluetooth for free over the summer, love it.

Bluetooth is pretty sweet, but I think I like the Navigation the most about it. Lol

The double din looks really good.

Thanks man, got a pretty good deal on it from a guy on Craigslist. Couldn't really pass it up since it already came with the Mic, Bluetooth Dongle, and Add-on Garmin Navigation System.

It does look "Out-of-place" sitting in the stock radio area. Definitely going to need to do quite a bit of work to make it look factory.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With NEW Double Din & Installed.

Browsing Craigslist and found an add for a Brand New NIC cam for $125. Talked the guy down to $90. Was pretty confident I was about to put a NIC cam in my car. Before I bought it, I asked for some pictures of the end so I could double check it was a NIC cam. Come to find out, it's not. It's actually an ST3 Turbo Cam (Which has been verified by Steve and Stattama Matt from ZZP).

For $90, even though I wouldn't use the cam, I still bought it. Cam isn't brand new like the ad claims but has zero pitting or damage marks. Just has some rust or some dirt on it. I'll take an emery cloth to it and shine it back up later today.

Someone already wants it and I will be getting $225 shipped for it. Made a nice little profit to fund new tires the Saleen Rims.

Kinda bummed it wasn't a NIC cam, since I LOVE the lope of that cam. lol. Was looking forward to getting it installed into the car. Still can't complain on the profit I made though.

And a good thing about moving out, I finally get a garage for the winter months:

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With NEW Double Din & Installed.

With the quick flip on the ST3 cam, selling another item on Craigslist, and some Christmas Money, I pulled the trigger on some tires for the Saleen Rims.

Purchased some brand new Achilles ATR Sport 245/45-18

Speed Rating: W
UTQG: 400
Traction: AA
Temperature: A
Load Index: 100

Bought them from Tire-Easy.com. Got all 4 shipped for $350. Which I think is pretty decent for some brand new tires. Seem to get roughly 3.5 - 4 / 5 star reviews. Good tire for the price.

Now that they are purchased, once I get them, I'm sure it wont be long until they are balanced and mounted. And if the snow holds off even longer, like it has in Michigan, the rims and tires might just go on for a few days. You know, a test fit or teaser.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With NEW Double Din & Installed.

I love the lope of the nic too. That's one thing that sucks about my s1x, there's not much of a sound difference.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With NEW Double Din & Installed.

You really don't want a NIC cam, do an XP or s1x...seriously.

Geez even on Craigslist the guy was lying...this does not surprise me.

Also for the Mic, I have that tucked up on the A-pillar as close to the windshield as possible. You'll find you won't hit it as often getting in and out of the car. I did it this way on both my Truck and the Saab.

My mic is also on the windshield side of the A pillar. All the way to the top.

Dan you need new steering wheel controls. I still have the entire column from my 97 someplace and the controls on it worked when I parted the car.

My steering wheel controls are pretty worn out. Never bothered replacing them because I don't ever use them since I've always had an aftermarket radio without steering wheel control.

Dan you can trade me if you want. Mine look better, but I don't use them either.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With NEW Double Din & Installed.

As a side note, here's what I've been doing the past two days. Still needs more work, but it's getting there. :th_sinister:

* I've taken plenty of pictures during the whole process of what I am doing, and plan on creating a "Write-Up" for this, encase anyone else would like to do this for a Double Din with a little guidance.
