97 GTP The White Ghost aka Pearl

you need to beat the fire wall so the o2 sensor dont hit and cause false KR. i dont beat mine before hand and its almost impossible to do with out a air hammer when the headers are installed already. why i just pulled the cross over and had it welded in there.

So, it's better to have it welded to the crossover.

Is it a diy job or do I need to take it to a shop? How is it done?

i marked it, then took the front header off and pulled the cross over and had it drilled and a bung welded in at a muffler shop. cost 40 bucks.

so its best to beat the f out of the firewall for the money factor. hammer blows are free.

thank god i got my headers for a 100 bucks. lol

wait, theres more lol

if you leave the o2 in the rear header and hammer the fire wall, you then need a longer o2 harness. after seeing all the melted o2 extension wires. i cut the factory plug off the cars harness, then added 3 feet of wire to the plug.

ran the o2 wire down the pass side strut tower down to the rack and then to the o2 sensor. this way it cant melt on the headers.

Well, I'm just going to have it welded to the crossover, that sounds easier, if I weld it to the crossover do I need to run wires?

nope, the stock wire will reach in the cross over. you'll want to do a test fit, mark it so its in a clear spot, then have it drilled and welded.

oh, if you plan on doing a some crazy build down the road its best left in the rear header, if all your doing is a 3.4 pulley its fine in the crossover.

One thing to consider though. If you put the O2 sensor in the crossover, you'll only be reading from the front of the engine. I'm not aware of that EVER being a problem, but the potential is there.

If you do decide to beat the foot well, here's the procedure...
Get rear header loosely in place. Screw in O2 sensor. Put the header as close to where it's supposed to be. Mark the foot well where the sensor hits. Move header out of the way. With a large ball peen hammer, beat the desired location. When you think you have enough clearance, beat it some more. Check with the header in place, and inevitably, beat it one last time. Make dang sure you have enough clearance before you put everything together!

put the wheels back on the ground. make sure the cars not hanging on the park awl in the trans, block the back tires and put it in neutral engine should be easier to pull back, or be close to where it belongs.
When I do this and block the back tires, can I jack the car back up in neutral? So, I can move the engine back and forth as I work on it.

i see no issue with jacking it up in neutral. I do it all the time haha. block the tires and use the parking brake. you should always use the parking brake and or block the rear tires when jacking up both front tires. im pretty sure putting the trans in park only locks up the two front wheels, sooo if they are off the ground anyways then why should it matter if they are in park or not? hehe

you just need the car back on the ground, then you would be able to rock the engine back in place. if its hanging on park, e bake and shift to N the engine will move easier now.

I took off the front exhaust manifold and crossover yesterday! It was a easy job.

I purchased a new radiator , which should be here in a couple days, it had a small leak on the side.

Now I need to take off the rear exhaust manifold, downpipe and catalytic converter. I looked under there and didn't even see the bolts for the exhaust manifold because the engine is tilt back to far. So, I'm going to put the car down and do what is posted above.

I also need to remove the old radiator.

Now I'm going be purchasing the Al104 spark plugs but have different ones. I see xp104, ap104, etc.... Which ones should I get?
