got ya. not sure if i have a bad one in my trunk still, if i do ill pop it open and take a pic for ya tomorrow.

im done messing with this damn thing. finally pulled the actuators off and rigged it on cold. gonna have to rig the mode doors too. going to plug the SC tree and move the mode door to face only. and stick it there.
FYI that 20a HVAC Control fuse dont do ****. i taqke it out and the HVAC module stays on. i hate the guy who had my car before me. there is no telling what this guy did to the AC system.
on another **** note, my car gets hot with the AC on. normally sits at 185* now gets up to 210-220*

sh it, i forgot to get that pic for ya. i got stuck working in the heat for a few days. never even looked for it lol sorry.
my car runs cooler with the a/c on as both fans are on. so when the ac is turned on, both fans come on full time?
i went over a year or so with no actuators, the driver side would walk back on its own, so i set the knob to cold, and made the actuator match, then just laid it on the knob, no screws at all, it held it in place.
this was also good for winter time, as full hot is no good but a touch over 1/2 way worked fine for me, once again the actuator held the knob in position.

Right now I'm having an issue with my 02' GP GT. The passenger side blows cold air on AC but the driver's side blows hot. Does anyone know the part number for that Actuator Motor. I'm assuming it needs to be replaced. Thanks. I'm tired of driving with the driver's side vents shut and turning all the passenger side vents my direction. It's getting too hot these days for that kind of nonsense. I'd rather sweat my azz off for one day repairing it.
I had the exact same symptoms on my '03 GT, turns out it was the refrigerant level was low, not the actuators. Worth a check, it's an easy fix if that's the problem.
If you need an actuator, RockAuto has the best price by far.

Thanks! I actually have a recharge system in the trunk right now. I'll dump it in when I get home to see what happens. I will say that the passenger side doesn't blow as cold as my 86' Olds did so you may be right. I still don't know how to differentiate between Auto AC and Manual AC systems??

you can pop the d/s actuator off and then turn the knob by hand, if you can make it blow cold manually the actuator is bad.
if its still warm, the system is low for sure. but you got the a/c gauges so you can also test the line pressures.
and its been f ing hot here the last few days.

Thanks Scotty! I'm so glad my work station is directly across from the AC Unit here at the lumber yard. I'll install the freon first and if it's still hot I'll try and manually close the door. I saw only one video from a 98' Chevy Something, and it didn't look so bad to reach from under the driver's side dash.

first post of this thread is the how too to change them. drivers side is a bit tight. but very doable. i wear size 3 x gloves, so i got large hands, yes i bled a little, but i got em in and out. more then once sadly lol

Well, thanks Scotty. I dodged a bullet with this one. I got home from work and attached the can of AC Pro, set the AC to Max, and let her rip. It was definitely low of juice. After 5 minutes the can was empty and all the vents were now blowing COLD ICY AIR!!! Whew! No taking apart the dash for me thank God! Also, I noticed as you had said, my temp gauge went down with the AC on Max too. Thanks everyone for all the help. No more sweating for me in the GP!
Was it up to the proper charge pressure for the ambient temp? When I got mine to spec, the drivers side ended up slightly cooler than the passenger side, go figure...
From Msg #18 "UPDATE 2: Refrigerant was low, recharged, now the with the same parameters as above I have 38º from drivers center outlet and 40º from the passenger center outlet. Why the drivers side is now cooler than the passenger side is a mystery.
So what seemed to be a blend door problem, wasn't.

Yep, I set the ambient temp gauge and it was at the proper charge, but at the "low end" of the spectrum. The can was empty at that point. At the instant I finished, both sides were blowing cold with the passenger side just a smidgen colder. I never sat for an extended period of time though. I just shut it off and went upstairs. I may need another can to get to the higher end of the scale.

i think it has a leak somewhere. if it worked, now dont work, it leaked out.
