Gas Prices!!!

Its under $1.80 around here now and there were a couple places around Antlers, OK selling regular for under $1.10. I dont know if that was a promotion or what but thats what it was going for.
 


yea man, I didn't really feel a drop that was significant

3.99-2.90 is significant because it's a whole 1.09 drop, but still, I'm not feeling any relief on my wallet with it being 2.90!

When I first started driving I had no money, but gas never bothered me. It cost less than $1.50 a gallon. About $20 to fill up, if that!

Now I have money, and it's a struggle... I can't imagine how the kids save any money that are in High School now. They work to drive and that is it.
 
Paid $2.23 a gallon for 93oct last night at Shell in St. Louis. Half a tank only ran me roughly $23 bucks! I just think back to July when it was over $4 bucks a gallon and a half a tank would run me $50-55+ to fill the same as it does now.

But I am sure with OOOOOOOoooooooooooBama being put in charge of our Country, I will be forced to stick a Solar Panel or a giant wind machine on the roof of my car to supply my "alternative" engery for my car! (Can you feel the sarcasism? :p)
 


I didnt vote for Obama, but I do like his drive to push us more to renewable energy. I do feel that along with more drilling we need a solid plan and goals to move us off our oil imports for no other reason than the fact we are sending so much money to people that do not particularly like us and it leaves us in a very vunerable state.

Oklahoma is currently sixth in the nation in wind powered electricity and they are moving at break neck speeds to increase that. Along with that we have an abundance of natural gas. Just about everyday I drive to work, I see a set of three wind turbine blades being trucked down the highway. As well, we also have one of the largest manufacturers of the towers those wind turbines sit on. We also have SGS here in town that is one of the oldest testing, inspecting and standards company around and they are getting monster contracts for inspecting and repairing wind turbines.

So Oklahoma will directly benefit from any initiatives in this area but even with that, even if Oklahoma was not to gain so much I would still be in favor of the initiatives that have been put forth.

I truly see within the next 5 - 10 years the renewable energy industry become one of if not the nations largest overall jobs creator and any of you out there looking for careers that are going to be stable and have huge growth potential then renewable energy is the place to be.
 


My hope is that if gas dropped to $1.25-$1.30 a gallon, Congress would STILL push to look into renewables, and not stop just because gas dropped. I will say that with Democrats in control of both houses and the president-elect a Democrat, it's more than likely to happen.

I read this on Slate - did you know Jimmy Carter had solar panels put on the White House when he was elected, but Reagan took them down? There's a small step right there. "If it's good enough for the President..."
 
I agree with you Deezul. My concern was that with prices dropping so dramatically, the attitude would be more of 'whew....we rode out that turmoil'. But it seems that the cost reaching as high as it did has truly had an impact on attitudes and considerations and that habits are truly changing now.

And I truly hope that even with the prices as they are that we will continue to pursue the renewable goals, not out of fear of what gas prices could become again, but out of true desire to do what we probably should have done 20-30 years ago.

I truly truly believe that the renewable industry will not only improve our national security significantly but also give us a very stable base for our economy to build upon. We just need to remain vigilant in our pursuit of its potential.
 


Very pleased with gas prices latly. During that storm while back gas rose from around 360 to 420. now, 3 months later....After the storm steady falling. Now im seeing prices right at 2.00.


Real nice to be able to tune my car and not go bankrupt
 
ive been filling for around 279 a gallon for 93 lately.... except of course for the 9.00 a gallon 100 octane i bought the other day ;)
