• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Which is easier to use... DHP Powertuner or an HP Tuner...

Just curious. I've never found the Powertuner very user friendly for me and I can't figure the damn thing out to this day. HPT is way more popular and can support many more vehicles including my TBSS.

Hopefully someone can chime in who had experiance with both.....

ive heard HPT is less user friendly, but has a lot more variables you can change and tweak.

i dont know from first hand experience though..

HPT is way more user friendly. I have heard and seen personally a LOT of the tables and general layout in the power tuner and it looks so out of date it's rediculas. HPT also has a LOT of additional ''histrogram'' tables that dhp does not. One very handy table is the main spark knock retard table.

What this is is when you have kr it tels you in what EXACT cell in the Spark table it is in and AND how much KR you were getting. Open up the editor and reduce the timing by the amount of kr that was showing up and BAM no more KR.

This is what is called a timing tune and is generally the last step in the tuning process.

HPT has a lot of other things that makes tuning Easier. Thats just a small example.

It may be More stuff to learn but you have more tools to use once you find out how they work. You can't ask for much more

From what I have seen Shawn the DHP Powertuner is kind of a pain. It gets the job done when needed but all I ever hear is people really complain about it. I'd like to get a HPT myself just to learn and such. If tax returns are enough this year, after I get the transmission installed I am thinking about investing in one for good reason :D

I LOVE my HPT.....

friends have DHP... from the way items are laid out. I wouldn't trade my HPT for DHP...

I'm on the HPT side here, too! It's so easy to use and the scanner has quite a few tools to it, as well. It's definitely worth the dough.

sadly even I have to say HPT wins over DHP now...there was a time when it didn't but, with charles walking away and never looking back, and advances on HPT's side both in front end layout and back end operation...it is the better choice now....my only wish is that it saved files in .bin format like DHP does.

FYI, PowrTuner has this as well...
Also, there is alot of software you can use with the PT to make it very user friendly!
For the $$$, I'm happy with my PT...
For support, I got the shaft...
Would I trade? Well, if Lisa would let me Turbo her 4.0L Mustang, sure I would!
Will I buy a HPTuner,... You bet I will, one day...
Will I sell my PT, not likely...

I pretty much have to agree with every single thing you said right there. Except for the mustang part. LOL

For the money, it was worth it. It still is worth it when I need to make a couple of simple changes to the KC guys' cars.

I've found that it just doesn't get it done much for me anymore, and my plans early next year are to purchase an HPT.

yeah I don't think I will ever sell mine either...its too handy as you said even without the support...sadly I was hoping Charles would come back and at least help with tuning, but thats obviously not going to happen...I had to host the PT software on RS because he just randomly took his site down without even a post or PM saying it was going down... THANKS CHARLES APPRECIATE THAT. :-|

I know I'm out of the loop on the DHP forums, just go there to find bin files and such....did he just get burned out or what? I don't think it really ever came out on my end. Shame really, because he had a good thing going although it was obviously labor intensive for him with little reward.

Basically Yes. Charles was basically the 10% partner that was the Brains behind it all so he was doing 90% of the work but only getting 10% of the profits. Yeah I would like to get more traffic there but kind of hard when you gear an entire site around a product that is no longer produced or supported. The site does have several nice features...chat/arcade/garage/gallery video upload/download section etc...its just hard to transition a site...plus it needs a redesign I think and thats over my head.

Well for what it's worth, I do appreciate you taking the reigns and keeping the site up. It still helps for when we need it.

Dont go thanking him. It will all go to his head and next you know we'll have to bow down as part of our login process to the site.

Just pickin on ya Jeff.

I'd like to see an HPT first hand before I purchase.

I really wish I could learn how to use the PT, but I can't seem to understand it. I need someone to damn near sit down with me and teach it to me, but from the looks of things that will never happen and i'll never get to learn it. I hate owning something and I cannot understand it one bit. I'll admit, i'm not much of a computer guy, but damn the PT looks soo complicated. I'm wondering if i'll understand an HPT more, since i'll probably never learn the PT.
