whats behind the first bolt on the harmonic balancer?

not working on the 3800 but not having much luck finding what i'm looking for on a 3400. i posted in the 3400 section but i think i might get more views here....and used the search bar and google and youtube.

anyway, got an olds silhouette minivan. it has the 3400. i was wondering if an impact will take that first bolt off without having to keep the crank from spinning. i cant get it off and am trouble shooting on the crank spinning issue. if i can skip that with an impact then i will try and aquire one and go that route.

so what happens after that first bolt? are there more behind what can be seen on the front side of the pulley? or is it just a pull off with the tool you rent from the part store?

about that spinning crank--i tried to rig up a system of a breaker bar and a big wrench wedging the wrench to use the starter to break the bolt loose but the socket just fell off the bolt. if i take the starter off will i have decent access to the flywheel to be able to wedge something in there?

and putting the new balancer back on.....will i run into the crank shaft turning while i'm putting the bolt(s) back in?

also, how delicate is the process of pulling the balancer off? should i be worried about damaging internal parts?

i realize that i am asking about a 3400 and is not in gp 97+. but maybe they have kind of the same setup/design since they are both gm. and i am sure i will eventually be doing this on a gtp i will own down the line

i already belong to this forum and did not want to join another.

thanks in advance
