Bottom Motor Mount for 01 grand prix gt 3.8l

Need to replace my bottom motor mount on my 01 grand prix gt 3.8L, is there a certain name brand to go with that will last for awhile or something I can coat it with before installing it, and what is the easiest way to remove and replace it.
Thanks
Sammie

Best one to go with is one that ISN'T fluid filled like the factory ones are that tend to fail.

Get a solid rubber replacement online, EBay, rock auto.com...local auto parts store...etc.

It's 4, 15mm nuts...get a board...put on a jack...remove the dog bones...remove old mount...reverse.

Its a tight fit as well, it may take a couple of taps with a hammer to get to to squeeze out, mine did at least the last time I did it. As a warning some of the "solid" mounts just have the fluid drained but still have a hollow cavity which makes them fail easily.

Ok, I called around for this solid rubber motor mount for the bottom of my 01 grand prix gt and they don't know what anyone is talking about and they only can find a right mount is what they are calling it, can someone tell me the correct name for this bottom motor mount and if you have a picture so I can see what it looks like. Much appreciated.
Thank you

its called the lower engine mount. looks like this. its on the pass side of the car, under the harmonic balancer.

you also have a trans mount on the other side, you should also change that if the engine mount is shot. it located opposite side of the engine mount.

looks like this.

easy to change, just remove the the dog bones up top, and the bolts that hold the mount your working on in, put a 2x6 by 2 feet long across the oil pan and trans pan on the side you are working on, and jack the engine up from under the board. remove the old mount, replace it, reverse install.

Ok, now I am really frusterated, I took my car in to a car shop to have it checked, they told me it was my bottom motor mount, now I had someone else check it and they said there is nothing wrong with the bottom motor mount, they think it might be in my tranny. here is what I hear when I go to take it out of park and then I put it into drive, it sounds like someone has hit it once with a club under the driverside floor board, I can feel it when I am in the car, and then it doesn't do it anymore.

pop your hood, start the car, and then watch the engine as you shift it from park to drive, and then to reverse. if it moving a lot back and fourth you need lower mounts. it will also clunk hard when shifting into drive, and then to reverse.

I have had the same issue...It's the mount(s).

Some people will look and can't see how bad the mount has sunk. I bet if you take it out it will be pretty smashed.

Oh, almost for got is there a diagram or a picture, where I can see where each motor mount is located at on this 2001 grand prix gt 3.8L

you see the part along the frame with the 4 little holes? the 2 bolts on the side of this bucket with the holes are lower bolts. to get to the top bolts, you take off the little splash shield from the pass side wheel well, and under the crank you will see 2 more bolts. those are the top bolts for the mount.

heres a vid how to change the trans mount, the engine mount is almost the same job, trans mount is a a bit easier to change.

there are 3 parts to this vid.
