"Cutting the intake box" on a GTP

I used to have a camaro, and before I put in a new intake, i would cut the box for a power increase.

I noticed on the 01GTP, the intake box (which holds the air filter) Is very closed. (obviously there is enough air running through it though)

Anyone ever try cutting the box to make a bigger hole? Bigger hole = more room for air intake :)

Anyone suggest it? I do not have the $250 to spend on a new intake at the moment. But i should soon...

Any good intake kits at a vato zone, or peps boys around here? I would like the eventually put a nice big K&N cone in there.

I have a write-up with pictures somewhere on here. Search gutting the air box or airbox. Something like that.
