Narrow Band O2

alright so this was my first time putting a o2 gauge on my car, and i know that it works i'm just not sure if i have and exhaust leak or not...what it does is keeps one going from the very bottom of lean then shoots up to mid way stoich and then back down the lean, and just keeps on doing this the whole time that i am driving, is this normal? or is it suppose to only be staying in one spot?

Narrow band gauges are pretty much useless. You can't see enough detail to know what's going on. If you read the mV reading off the O2 sensor through the PCM, then you have a better idea.

One of my next mods is a wideband, anyway.

not entirely true. i did have a modified narrowband gauge that only read from .800mV and up. i thought it was great for WOT tuning.

Interesting.

not all narrowband gauges constantly move like that, mine doesnt its a summit brand one.

It might be modified like the one Bio mentioned. The PCM is always swinging the AFR while in closed loop mode to verify the O2 sensor is reading as it should. A narrowband that reads the whole range will sweep back and forth with it.
