Not your typical heater issue...

I have an issue with the AC/heater fan that seems a little different from the other threads I've researched. I have a 97 GTP without climate control.

This used to be an off and on sort of thing that I noticed during the summer with the A/C on but it's becoming more and more of a problem and now affecting my heater. At temps close to 0* I need my heat...lol

So here's the problem...when it acts up it doesn't matter what settings I put the fan on, I get nothing more than just a trickle of air out of all the vents (defog, head) and no air to the floor. When I change the speed settings, the fan gets louder, like its trying to blow air harder, but still nothing more than a trickle of air from the vents. Changing the vent selector does change the air flow to the desired selection but doesn't affect the amount airflow out of the vents.

During the summer when I turned on the AC, I was thinking that my A/C was freezing up because after a while it would start to do this trickle of air crap, which was not nearly enough to make the car comfortable, but like I said earlier it's now affecting my heat.

Has anyone seen this issue, and can point me in the right direction to fixing it?

Thanks in advance!

Hey Scotty, thanks for the reply but as I stated in my original post, I can hear the blower motor going faster and blowing harder. In fact, I can hear the the air blowing somewhere...it's just hardly any coming out of the vents. :th_scratchhead:

I'm beginning to think that it has more to do with something in the flaps somewhere.

http://www.grandprixforums.net/showthread.php?t=21941&highlight=change+blend+door+actuators follow this thread to pen up the lower dash.

in the first pic theres a round part in the lower right, thats what moves air direction, theres one on both side. they are vacuum powered. so car running, work the controls while watching these 2 vac pumps, they both push a rod up and down. this rod can break all on its own. or the pump may not be working.

theres the one vac line off the top of the supercharger, it runs to the fire wall on the pass side, its powers the vac lines in the cab. so if the vac pumps dont move, check that line.
