Can shift from park with the car off

So with no key in the car and even the battery disconnected, I can shift the car out of park into any gear. I'm not engaging that safety switch either. I can literally just pull it straight back. I would assume this is not normal but how do I fix this?
 


sounds like the lock has been disabled by the last owner, if its been like that since you got the car. its common problem where it locks in park, and wont come out, so it gets rigged to work.
 
Hell..it might have stuck that way. Pull the console up and look.

Does anyone actually look at a problem before they post?
 
Yes I looked at the emergency lock out piece and I could still engage it like normal. If I was an expert at what this was supposed to look like I wouldn't have made a thread.
 
You don't have to be an expert or even have seen anything to at least look at something. I've seen guys with a wire broken under there causing issues. Didn't take any rocket science to determine their problem. Ya know
