Northstar GTP??

Just curious to hear what everyone else has to say but I've been thinking of swapping a 4.6 Northstar V8 into my 99 GTP? Unless someone can put up a good reason to not do it and give me a better alternative.. I kinda just want to do it for something unique and have a bad*ss sounding V8 GTP lol. Can anyone think of a better V8 that could fit into a 99 or a good reason to not put a Northstar in it?

I would love to put the 5.3 in it but could you cram one of those into a 99? Thats my only concern. I know Northstars aren't the best but I can get them for cheap and they're still decent engines and are a V8..

Yup I would pass on a N* very sucky motors and a pain to work on and parts aren't the cheapest. Bet you'll find a few of them sitting in the junkyard. There's a reason why.

I mean as a project car couldn't hurt. Bang for your dollar woudl be an LS4. The N* is a pain to work on. All engines have there problems but N*'s seem to have the hardest to fix problems.

And yeah I am well aware of all of the issues N*'s have.. I drove a 99 Eldorado for a while.. I loved the car and dealt with it through all of its crazy issues including the rediculous head gasket failure..

I dont think the Vortec 5300 would fit, but I'm almost possitive the LS4 would. The 5300 would not bolt up to the 4t65E, 60* bell housing vs 90* bellhousing. You would need the 4t80 or whatever trans they put in the fwd caddies.
