08 GXP Remote Start Disabled (No option in DIC)

Hey everybody,

I have an 08 GXP with factory remote start. After getting my car back from the dealer (replaced starter) I noticed that my remote start no longer worked. The DIC displays "Remote Start Disabled" and car does not start. Key in ignition starts the car just fine. I addressed the dealership about this issue, they stated it may be because the door lock actuator needed to be replaced. So I go ahead and do that. Still no luck. Also I can no longer find the option in the DIC to enable/disable the remote start function. I have searched many forums and websites for an answer to this, but with no luck. Any input would be appreciated. I'd also like to add that my CEL is not on, all doors are closed, hood/trunk included.

Thanks

did it work before they replaced your starter? if so then that's a little fishy that you got it back and it stopped working

Yea that's what I'm saying...that's BS if it worked when ya took it then didn't when ya got it back. I would make em fix it...although the dealership here and I don't have a good relationship cause they tried to screw me. But if they don't fix it for u go to the BBB website and start a complaint process...then dealer will jump on its toes to fix it

Other than that I would make sure they didn't leave anything disconnect on the starter. And the starter in our gxp are very easy to get to

People call them "stealerships" for a very good reason.

BBB will be a waste of time. Call the Gee M customer care line < dealer will cringe at the thought of this, and will have to abide.

Tell them A. I wish to have my R/S working again (probably disabled due to battery disconnect)
B. I'd like a refund for the door actuator (charging you additional p&l to not fix the problem)

Unfortunately you will have to deal with the bastids as a Tech II is needed to diagnose/fix.

After that is resolved I'd advise finding another shop to get your ride serviced.

BBB worked for me. Dealership didn't wanna have a bad report

nope, hasnt worked since i had the car, its in the rpo code and the dealer i took it to said it comes up with it also, but but , they cant get a fob to hold a program and said it might not show up because the car doesnt think it has the module conected, pissed me straight the f off, i watched em do it. fob works and programs, second they take of the tech2 it loses teh program

That's freaking retarded. Sounds like ya need to beat the car with a hammer a little

Ron Lisack,

I’m sorry you are experience this issue with your vehicle. The remote start feature will be disabled if any of the following occur:

- The remote start system is disabled through the DIC.
- The vehicle’s key is in the ignition.
- A door on the vehicle is open.
- The vehicle’s hood is open.
- The hazard warning flashers are on.
- There is an emission control system malfunction.
- The engine coolant temperature is too high.
- The oil pressure is low.
- Two remote vehicle starts, or one start with a time extension, have already been provided for that ignition cycle.

If none of these are occurring. I would be happy to look into this further for you and document everything in a case. If you would like to proceed, please PM me the following information: your full name, address, phone number, vehicle mileage, VIN and the name and city of your dealer.

I look forward to your reply.
