Ok, the stock struts on my 00 GT have been done for some time now and the Gen I SLP spoiler doesn't seem to help the situation any. I'm tired of my decklid trying to kill me everytime I open it.

I thought I saw somewhere on here where there was a stronger strut for this car but can't find it.

If there is an upgrade for this someone please let me know, if not then I'll just grab new replacement ones and hope it holds it open. Either that or I'm going to come up with a locking mech. for one of the hinges.

No one has anything on this? New stock struts, some other GM car strut, Ranchos, Bilsteins...

just get a pair that cost like 20 each, they will work just fine. i forget what brand i got for mine, they have to be 5 years old now, still work great.

Did you ever find a good replacement? I have the SLP Gen 1 spoiler and have the same problem. Factory trunk lid struts are pretty weak now being 20 years old. I tried some from a junkyard Grand Prix GXP, but they were a bit too long unfortunately.

No I haven't actually. It was put on the backburner for another project shortly thereafter. Think when I get paid next week I'm just going to order new stock ones from RockAuto and see how well they hold this heavy thing up.

The last time I went to the salvage yard I just took a few from a couple different w bodies that had the rear spoiler. They were not that expensive to buy. I found some good ones that work with the SLP Gen II. This was a few years ago.
