ok so i was asking before if i could drill into the k&n tubing and do the same thing with the smog pump as you see that i did with my current intake in the pics below. I don't feel like deleting the smog pump at this time as it could be a good amount of work since it goes into the exhaust at some point (ive tried to locate where but it takes so many twists and turns that i cant trace it and i cant see where it ends up anyways). i just want to know if anyone knows what the k&n tubing for the 04+ is made out of so i know if i can drill and thread it like i did to my current intake, or if anyone has and alternate solutions that involve keeping the smog pump. i was thinking a longer hose and putting it in the fender well a little but the hose is a pretty weird one. maybe just extending it with some piping but i dont know haha.

Is there any way you can make the aluminum piece smaller?

If you made it just bigger than the fitting and ran it around the box so its just behind the filter, that should work.

and dont try to steer me away from k&n, i know that they really arent any different from other intakes. the only reason i kinda want it is because it comes with a new maf built into it and i have some maf problems i believe. ive cleaned it and they have gotten better but a new one sounds good to me lol

Second pic has an aluminum tube in front of the maf with a fitting. IIRC the K&N FIPK (with the box) puts the MAF in front of the hole in the intake box it comes with. You'd need to shorten the aluminum tube to maybe 3" long. Then you should have room for the filter and maf to fit where they need to.

Unless you're just talking about getting a K&N filter....

That is the FIPK. The surround is a "box" of sorts. You shouldn't have to tap into anything on the FIPK kit. You should be able to move the aluminum tube in front of the maf, into the box just after the filter like it is now.

The filter may not fit that way, meaning you would have to trim down the aluminum tube.

ohhhhhhhh i get what you are saying now...to put the aluminium tube i already drilled into between the tb and the k&n. then yeah i can make the piece shorter but im pretty sure its diameter is bigger the the k&n tubing. maybe just get a coupler to go from the bigger aluminum piece to the smaller k&n then?
