Hi,
I have a 92 Grand Prix SE. I changed the rear brakes, rotors, and one calipers about a year a go. I have just noticed the back brakes barely rub the rust off the rotors when we drive it. I have bled about a 1/2 pint or so of brake fluid out of each rear calipers but seems to not have changed things. Any ideas as to what might be wrong and how to fix it?

Either the calipers are hanging up and need to be replaced or the rotors are too badly rusted. If a rotor rusts bad enough, the pads can't clean the rust off. It seems to be a common problem on several GM vehicles I have seen where the shiny contact patch on the rear rotor gets narrower and narrower as the rust works it's way in from the edge. The Grand Prix I have right now only had a narrow shiny strip down the middle of the rotor when I bought it. I replaced the rotors and pads and it's fine now. I'm doing the brakes on a Yukon this weekend for the same reason. The rear rotors are getting 50% contact at best due to rust working it's way in from the edges.
