They don't like the heat, have you changed fluid and filter recently? How does it shift roughly? Rev up high then slam down, rev up then seem to kick down with what almost feels like a backfire, or what? With that many miles I wouldn't think too much of it needing a rebuild especially if it's been babied. When you did change fluid and filter last were there metal shavings in the pan? One final question is when or before this happens have you noticed any whining in the transmission when your accelerating?
Most likely the PCS or pressure soleniod is giving you some issues. Many band aid this with a shift kit and a bottle of lucas stop slip. Others replace the soleniod, which requires the side cover to come off...which means lowering the drivetrain etc.
Just started the last few days. Its a small clunk when going from 1st 2nd 3rd. I shut it off for about 20 mins and it was fine after that. Doesnt seeem like a slip just rough between gears. Putting it in gear is fine also. Oil is fine and the filter was changed 5000 kms ago
I had a somewhat similar problem. For my next fluid change I'm going to put and aluminum finned pan on to keep it cooler. If your in an area where it's getting warmer it might just be something that happens with the heat, which is what happened with me. Like bill boost said could be a pcs problem. When I had mine checked out it was prolonged shift (.91 seconds when it should be around .63 seconds) and I could either have the side panel removed and have it checked, at least $600, or throw some Lucas stop slip in and just drive it. I'm hopin the aluminum finned pan will help, if not I'll just have to deal with it until it goes,
