This should be a heck of a first post.

I've been reading up on GTPs since I discovered I wanted one.
I finally acquired one last week ('99 Coupe) and going through the process of cleaning it up (and maintenance)

It's sitting at 165k miles. More than I cared for, but got it cheap for prices around here.

Anyways, when I saw it running the first time I heard a noise coming from the supercharger area, figured it was this infamous coupler issue.
No big deal, definitely within my abilities to replace.

Bought coupler kit (oil, coupler, gasket maker) only to find out my coupler is in great shape, it's my snout bearing that's bad.

I do not have the tools to press off and back on new bearings and honestly I don't trust anyone in this town to do it.

So I'm just going to replace the whole snout.

Right now my price is $245 for a reman'd one with $50 core charge included. ($195 in the end.)
Does anyone here have a low mileage or perhaps reman'd snout they'd sell for less than that? (Whole snout, pulley attached)

    Or option 2

Since my car is higher mileage, I'd like to see the price for a whole M90.
Again either low mileage or reman'd as well.

While I'm new to these forums, I'm not with online transactions.
I've done many between the Saab forums I was on, the hard forums as well as eBay and whatnot. (Just to put your mind at ease with my limited time and posts here)

A reman would cost more than it's worth to be honest. I've seen blowers at 400k miles still going strong.

You could consider upgrading to a gen v supercharger at this time. You can find those on forums with a LIM, which is needed for install for around $350 on the forums. This is the route I would reccomend going, 20 more hp never hurts.

A gen 3 is going to run you anywhere from 75-200 on the forums.

Check car-part.com to see what local auto parts recyclers have as well. Sometimes they are high as a kite, other times you can get good deals.

Does a Gen V require a tune as well? Is there any downfall to it?
I do have future plans for the car. No power or times set, just as much as I can get out of it for a reasonable price (and still achieve decent mileage, as it will be a DD)

Right now I'm back to my Saab, so this down time sucks.
It's like getting a new toy only to find out you don't have any batteries for it :P

I know the feel, my project has been sitting about a year.

You will not need a tune to swap to a gen V, because its similar to dropping 2-3 pulley sizes, but it wouldn't hurt. Especially scanning for knock retard before and after the swap. Most will reccomend headers and an intake at the same time as a Gen V swap to help with flow and KR reduction.

As for tuning, you could get HPTuners (which works for about any late model GM) for around $350 on the forums, then if they aren't included, you'll need 2 credits for a total of $99. A tune is the best mod for the money, and HPT is straight forward enough for anyone to use.

As I was browsing ZZP, I see that they sell rebuilt snouts for $200+Shipping if you choose to go that route. I personally am not a fan of ZZP after some bad transactions.

I have GenIII snouts ready to go. We can always rebuild yours easy as pie with new bearings. I have done quite a few in my days. Here is a "how to" video I made, see if it helps. Same day turn around service on snout rebuilds.

I definitely want headers in the future, but won't be dropping them on right now.
Once I get this problem fixed and my valve gaskets replaced (fun fun), I'll be removing the cat and u-bend and making a custom somewhat fender intake.

I saw that, I'd have to ask him on the mileage since I know at least my bearings failed around 165k

Watched your videos when I encountered this problem.
Very informative, which is also why I felt uncomfortable letting someone else in this town do this job, lol
I'd love to try it myself but I lack a press.

PM'd you though on any snouts you have ready to go.

On a side note, thanks for all the quick replies.
    Liking this GPT support
