    2006 Grand Prix GXP
Really need a new water pump (mine is leaking around the pulley) and a tips or throttle body. My idle speed is about 20mph and my rpms are at 1100 when it used to sit at 5-600 at idle and I was told I need to replace my throttle position sensor... Which I also found out that I need the whole throttle body? If I'm wrong please let me know.

You are correct you will need a new TB. Someone on here recently bought a new TB for same problem. The water pump is really simple to do and if I where you id replace the thermostat as well while ur at it. Aren't u parting out a GXP. There's ya a used TB

Yea remove battery and leave the fuse box outta the way. Take belt off. Then remove the cover. Here around 8 I'm going back to my room there's a good video I have plus I'll inclued the GM manual instructions as well with it

Edit: I helped a friend who has an impala and it took longest putting the serpentine belt back on lol

yea...the water pump i purchased came with a new seal and the pump and seal thing was only like 50 bucks from rock auto. the hardest part was getting the dang belt on and off...that was a bit*h without the proper tool but i was able to get it off with a socket and long extension bar and 4 hands

I am parting it out but I think that when the battery caught on fire that it shorted out all the wires on the engine harness because some of them are melted even where the heat didn't get to them.. Would heat or a short hurt the throttle body? Also, how about the water pump? won't the seals be all jacked up since it's on the same side as the fire

The seals very well could be but if u were taking the pump off of any ls4 I would replace it anyways. Their only a couple bucks. And a short could damage it but I would try the one from the one ur parting out just to see if it works or not

Very true, it's not like it would take very long to swap, everything is right on top. If i had to buy a new one though, i was told that they are 250 bucks minimum and that they are extremely hard to get ahold of

When I did it on my buddies impala as the pump I got off rock auto costs lime 40 or 50. But total I charged him 100 for the work and that was still way cheaper than letting the shop do it for him

Oriely's auto quoted me at 147 bucks for a new pump with gaskets.. should i just order one online? Are they trust worthy replacements parts though? I really don't want to ever have to do this again. If you could send me a link to the one you purchased that would be great. That'll save me a ton of money since I can put it in myself

ACDelco OE Service 217 2296 Fuel Inj Throttle Controls | eBay

Is this what i'm looking for??? If so then i might as well just buy it to save me the hassle. That's not too bad considering a new one from the manufacturer is 375

Yup. Its what I used all you'll need from there is basic wrenches and a tool to remove the serp belt. I do not recommend doing it the way the guy in the video did.

Got everything fixed the other day. You weren't kidding about the hardest part being the stupid belt. I would have almost rather pulled the trans than do that again lol.
ended up buying a brand new pump since the one in the damaged car was all burnt up. I did however manage to get the TPS off the burnt car without a problem and it works great!! No more 1200 RPM idle speeds. She's sitting at a nice and quiet 500-600 after it's warm. Thanks for the help on the water pump! You saved me a ton of money.
