I have a little bit of a clearcoat peeling problem on the concave portion of the bumper just below the trunklid. How do I repair it? And can I repair it without repainting the whole bumper? I intend to have the bumper repainted in probably less than 2 years so the fix would be temporary.
Lastly, will simply waxing over it fix it? I haven't waxed in a little while, but it would look discolored if i just waxed over it.
I see terms like "wetsanding" tossed around and I'm not sure what they mean. I was thinking I could use super fine grit (1000-2000) sandpaper and soapy water to try to remove the clear coat in the approximately 2 feet by one inch wide region of the bumper. Then sand it so it's smooth with the surrounding painted area. Then I would try to put on some sort of spray on clearcoat, let it dry, and then sand it flush with the surrounding clearcoat. Is this possible?
