    ^ You don't have a cover anymore, the dress-up doesn't count.

While I agree if you have a Supercharger you should clean up the bay and show it off, but not everyone feels this way.

I have seen stock ones painted just a little bit, fully repainted with flames, some even modded to vent off some heat and then painted. Truthfully most of the good ones are old builds and the members are long gone, you will have to use the search bar or google and find some. Basically same for a how-to as it is painting anything else that is plastic, sand, primer, paint, clear. Prep work is the main thing, and using good high temp paint is the next. If you don't have the skills to paint, just leave the cover off and look into other options for making the engine bay pretty.

I know it's not a cover I was being sarcastic
.I think a little TLC and paint you can really make these engines look good the cover just hides the supercharger which is the cool factor of these cars... But I have seen some covers painted up and they look pretty cool

Doug that's looking very sweet! Nice work! Its nice to show off the s/c it looks like it took some time to get it looking like that.

I want to customize my engine cover. I have seen some nice pics of some in forums. I seen one that was a dale earnhart edition and it was decked out in budweiser logos and the cover was custom painted and pin striped. It was all glossy it was sweet. Iwant to do something like that with my cover.

Looking for some ideas and maybe write-ups

do you have a pic of your engine now as it sits? because depending on what you like or what you want your engine to look like will kinda help with some ideas. ive seen white cars that have the cover painted gloss white with red and black letters ive seen blue and red flames and ives seen some pretty ugly covers lol you can either make your bay look better or make it worse depending on how and what you do... the outcome all comes down to the prep work if you spend hours sanding smoothing and just fine detailing it will come out great. also if you get your cover painted by a shop or where you can get a high gloss clear over what ever colors you do it will also make it last longer and look that much better

havent done much my self, cover was painted before i got ahold of the car.

Some things i plan to do:
paint it red in the slashes and lettings on cover
    Red spark plug wires
    red bars going across bay

let me know what you think

Jake u, how did you go about painting your rails blue? What are they exactly called, im thinking about buying an extra two at a junk yard and painting them

I believe the they are just called diagonal braces. And I started with just some 220 sandpaper and roughened them up and followed up with some 400. This just gave paint something to bond to. But i used some leftover brake caliper paint so it is high temp and matches everything else. Just pull them off and hang em and spray away. I did about 3 coats i believe.

If i put my engine cover on it covers up everything that looks good. The painted blower polished valve cover red wires. It looks way better open and uncovered in my opinion

That looks pretty sweet but I don't have the time for all that so I'd be fine with just painting the cover for now.
