Thread: Projector headlights

My wife asked me if i would like projector headlights for fathers day this year. I said ok, and she showed me what she was getting me.

My question is, are projector lights adjustable?

I had a set of lights similar to these for my '04 Intrepid, and I wasn't impressed with the light output. Trying to switch bulbs to a different brightness wasn't an easy chore, and just never seemed to have the light intensity I wanted. Looks overall were great though.

Ok so what would you recommend?

Personally, I am really leaning towards the HID retro's. It looks like a job and a half, but from everything I see, it costs about the same if you do the work yourself, and the light output is through the roof.

Edit: and I dont think its much difference in price from what you're looking at with the plug and plays.

I have looked at the retro kit but i just dont want to work that hard at it.

Retros where its at for performance and looks..projectors look cool n dont work great..youll need foam for them because the tend to bounce. N if you do order them off ebay instead of carid for at least a $100 cheaper.

either way there going to bounce? Wheat about the adjuster, do they have them.

Where would i foam them in at?

From what I hear yes, never personally had them but everyone warns people on here. Take a look at this thread, maybe it will help a little.

I had a set of these for about a year before I went back to stock lights. The bouncing gets old after awhile even after trying all of these bounce fixes. They do look cheap so don't high expectations. They do have adjusters on them. They leave weird gaps if you try to adjust them to avoid the beams crossing. I had mine adjusted pretty good. If you do end up getting these be sure to add HIDs to them. The halogens in them are not that great. If I were to go projectors again I would retro.

I would buy the HID kit. I have the stock in mine right now, with the hid kit, i did adjust them so i wasn't just seeing the road, and they bounce, and have the weird gap in the bottom. I just wonder if i put the hid in wrong. Is there a certain way they need to go in? Either way im going to need new headlights, because i broke the adjuster screws on them.

Another thing I forgot to mention is that these use a different bracket than the stock lights. So if you break the bracket, you either fix them or buy a whole new set. There is no replacement bracket for these.

But they would bolt right to the stock location?

They do. I'm just letting you know the overall bracket that holds the actual headlight is different and there is no available replacement if one is broken.

I have those with the CCFL and HIDs 4300K bulbs. they can be adjusted up and down and side to side. you just need to be gentile with them. I even took a little preempted stick on them and used some plastic jb weld around the bolt holes to firm them up.

As for the bounce, there are a lot of cheap and easy ways to fix them, i fixed mine with some double sided tape and spray paint can lids.

Most people that break them try to fix the bounce by over tightening the bolts, that does nothing to help. i keep mine at finger tight plus a 1/4 turn with a wrench. works fine.

also the CCFL halos are super bright, they can been seen in the direct sun light. I have had mine now for over two years, same ebay HID kit same head lights and halos, no issues, it all about prep work and getting the correct power harness for the HID blasts.
