Just put in my HID lows with the relay harness and the harness is blowing my low beam fuses like crazy (had the same problem when I tried installed the relay harness on my fogs, also have hids in those). I know its the harness cus all hids work fine without the harness. It is an ebay harness so I dont know if thats the issue or what but I need help. I dont want to blow another hid ballast due to flickering I had the time.
    Any solutions?
    Thanks

Same thing going on with mine..I ordered a relay off ebay and then ordered ddm hid kit, ballasts, bulbs, and relay harness, and still same issue. And the relay from ddm was pretty much the same as the ebay harness..I still dk what it is. What did you ground your relay harness ground to?

I tried battery ground and a screw in the water channel thing right beside the battery and made no diference. I have seen some relay kits that use one ground for the whole harness and others that use one ground per side. My harness uses one ground. I also have a complete ddm hid kit, maybe thats the problem ha

Lol yup ive tried both of them too..idk what it is man. Mine is the one ground as well and either one didnt do anything. If I hookel them strait up they blow fuses. Its gotta be a short in the relay im thinking but idk..if I have the day off tomorrow I swear im figuring it out lol. If anyone knows, help is appreciated!

A friend of mine had the same problem on one of his cars (ford fusion) and ended up frying the stock harness so he did a complete bypass of everything stock. Im not sure what all he actually did but if I cant find any solutions to our problem maybe Ill get him to do the same thing to mine and see how it goes

Ohhh thats not gooood. I hooked up one of my old ballasts n it works just fine thru the stock wiring..n then I hooked it up thru the relay and it wouldnt work. My other original ballasts blew n I wish I knew where it was from cuz they seem really good. So im prettt sure these relays are just not hooked up right or good enough. But I flipped connections backwards n everything. Im gonna try n sand down a really good ground n try to find a solution. I will let you know as well when I can get around to it. Thanks man.

When Im driving in day time only one the driver side bulb is on. I could just turn the lights on and they would both stay on but is there a way to keep them both on while leaving the lights on auto? I dont want to blow another ballast.

Sooo you guys wanna diagnose this? Someone get a picture of the connections on the bottom of the relay. There's either numbers or letters. Then a picture of the connector on it.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

    Ok..so it's a typical relay.

Take the relay out of the connector and follow 30 to the power supply that should be fused and going to the top of your fusebox.
87 should go to the headlights to supply them with power
85 or 86 gets grounded and the other gets the signal from your headlights to turn on the relay

Then..before you leave that in the engine bay..make sure you tape it up super well to keep water from getting into it.

My harness is backwards. I followed the power wire and it goes into the 87 then splits at the 30 location and then onto the headlight connections. the 85 and 86 are correct tho. Whats up with that?

It can be done either into 30 or 87 as long as it heads out of the other. Doesn't actually make a difference. However if you found something with instructions..it'll tell you to put the supply to 30 and the output to 87. See that little straight piece off 30 that would hit 87 if it pivoted? That's the part of the relay that makes connection when the relay is actuated via power and ground (one to 85 and the other to 86)

Ok.. so if that stuff is right and you are still blowing the fuse. Let's look at the rest. Your supply is hooked to the top of the relay center?
What size is the fuse in your holder in that supply wire?
And..you are positive you hooked the output from the relay to the positive input of the ballast? Because once in a while you have to flip the wires to make the ballasts work properly. (Imagine you didn't pay much and they are from a different country)
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Im not to sure what you mean about the little straight piece off 30 but I have a 30 amp fuse in the relay. I didnt have a chance and making sure I had the inputs and outputs right cus I blew the last of my fuses before I could try all the different combos. Ill get more fuses and try all the difference combos and see

okay yes my 87 is to power source and 30 breaks off to each headlight connection. Now when I have all the connections hooked up correctly with the tabs in the right position, the light flickers on then off n thats it..n when I flip one over..thr fuse blows under the hood fuse box

Marines542 and GrandPrix06GT -- Your relay is a 40 amp mine is a max 80 amp. Maybe need a higher rating for a relay?

Yep and it only has a 30 in it..I hooked up my old ballast and it is now working with the relay..the new ddm ballasts are now the ones that just flicker on then off..im guessing the ballasts are just crap..unless the wouldnt flicker if they were crap??

Idk man I emailed ddm letting them know..I put my old ballasts in for now. One is good but idk the brand or else I'd buy another one of that. And the other is a xentec n it puts out a blue color rather than pitch white like my other good one. I'm just gonna wait for ddm to reply.
