the previous owner had leds installed in the headlights and in the interior. the ones in the head lights work as designed but the interior lights don't. when i bought the car they didn't work at all so i didn't see what they even looked like. one day they randomly came on and i thought, "oh, that's cool." but they wouldn't turn off when i turned the car off. i checked how they had them wired under the hood and it looks like it was a bad ground as to why they wouldn't work at all. so i fixed the ground connection properly and they work but they still don't turn off when you shut the car off.
my assumption is they are on some sort of remote like an amp would be but i'm not sure where that connection would be. there are no wires run for the led's behind the stereo for this application. when i dug around the dash a bit there is some sort of module tucked between the console and firewall but i couldn't lay down to see it at the time. the led's were plugged into this module but i'm not sure where it is hooked to. what is going through the firewall is a blue coated wire-a power and a ground that appears to be separate from the module. the power is hooked to the fuse box and the ground is hooked to the strut support bolt.
i don't have pics of this and i'm not really sure i can get the pics of the module because its mounted upside down behind the console.
has anyone dealt with a similar setup?
i thought about just rigging a switch up but if the right way is within reach then i will go with that.
oh, she said they worked fine and she was actually surprised they weren't coming on when she showed me the car. she also took her head unit out that day before i came so i'm thinking the two are connected. i just don't see any separate remote wire in the dash for the led's. she also blew the amp fuse in the dash somehow. when i put my stereo in it wouldn't work at all so i traced it to that blown 20 amp "amp" fuse.
(edit) oops. i put this in the wrong section by mistake. meant for it to go in the interior catagory
