I have indeed gotten flicked TWICE due to my tint, and I also live in Michigan.

This is what I tell my soldiers. "Do what you can afford" example: If it's "illegal", I don't know about it. If you get busted then you must pay. So... do what you like, just be ready for any side effects.

yea it is i was gonna tinit mine white and im painting my rims white i was gonna white it out but the guy at the tint shop was like your gonna get pulled over alot so i just went 15% black and it looks good
