Yep.. Don't use a fat bead though haha cuz it will push out and that stuff smears and makes a mess haha so just a 1/16th bead down each side and those puppies will never come off haha
No don't put the bead on the tape and rail. Stick the tape to the rails and make sure it's on firmly. Then on both sides of each roof channel, do a small bead down each side. Then stick the rails on and apply pressure evenly down each one.
if you wanted to make sure no one ever stole them, you can pop a few screws in from the inside of the car, but this requires you taking off the head liner to do it.
if i were to get another set i would do this. even though they are hard to rip off, you can still do it which is the main point.
who the hell would steal roof rails? 3m double sided clear tape (that gel like) is stupid strong. pc modders use it to stick acrylic windows for the side panel.
the regular black 3M double sided tape that is holding my lip spoiler to my trunk will rip paint off with it if you pull it off. it took me a half hour to take it off even using a heat gun.
once it's on there, it's pretty well stuck for good.
exactly why if i were to do it again i would screw them into the roof so they would never come off.
also, some of them dont sit completely flush anymore so the screws would help to pull them into the recesses.
i would really like to screw them down but pulling the headliner is such a pita, it takes a 20 glueing job and turns it in to a day and plus theres a greater chance of messing them up idk if thats worth it,
but if your not trying to just throw them on real quick and want to make a day of it then defiantly screw them down
GE Silicone FTW and yes, they do get stolen...
