So, windows were down and rolling down the highway and i notice that the sag in my headliner is getting worse...sucks. looks like trailer trash. anyways i want to replace the fabric on it...

i do have an aftermarket sunroof if that makes a difference. my car is a 97 gtp 2 door. any suggestions on how to do this? i know i can get it down, but getting it out is the problem...

I'm guessing but maybe pull the passenger side seat out to get the new one in?

I would think that if you pulled out the front seats you could get it in/out.. Worst case.. Just bull one the the doors off to get the new one in easier..

Id think that would be less work the the windshield..

I think you guys are all crazy for taking out the windshield. Good luck getting it out without breaking it.... and that will be at least $200 to get a new one and install. Why not use some of this junk?

3M Super 77 Multipurpose Spray Adhesive: strong-bonding, fast-drying glue that you just spray on. Think it up, glue it down!

Get some clear plastic to lay over all of your interior, tape off parts, rip out factory cloth.... get new cloth... and spray that stuff on it and put it up. Boom... done... simple. They also make hi-strength 90 as well.

    And smile it's Blacktooth Grin!

Can you pin it up with straight pins pushed in at a severe angle - almost parallel with the roof? It's not perfect, but will hold it up until you can repair or replace it. It's hardly noticable unless someone is really looking for it. I've done this on several older model cars/trucks.

    Its really simple

Remove; Sun visors, overhead console, Sunshade retainers, Dome lamp, sunroof trim lace, Coat hook, rail, lamp windshield side molding, upper quarter trim panels,

Pull down on weather strip seal around doors

There will be two retainers remove them

There is a lot of Velcro material under there get a plastic wide blade putty knife slide it between to work it free once headliner is free work it out through the passenger side door. A quick note here taking out the passengers seat is not necessary, BUT it does make getting it out a LOT easier, If you remove all seats its even easier still

    Hope this helps

from what i've seen on tv shows, you will need to remove the foam padding from the headliner, then you can use rubber cement from a spray can on both the head liner and the new headliner material of your choice, just leave it 2 inches wider than the headliner and fold the extra around the to the underside of the headliner, makes a better looking termination around the sides. and use what ever material you like, you can pick up a lot of good stuff from sewing stores that sell fabric and what not by the yard for cheap.

a little tip, lay the head liner out with the new material laying over it, get it where you want it, then fold the new liner 1/2 way back, and spray 1/2 first, let it dry then push the liner over the sprayed area, press it in, then do the other 1/2, that way it wont move on you.

And when you re-do the entire interior...might as well make it nice, right?
