I'm not sure what goes into the process, but painting any wheels in general is a bad idea. Wheels = Powdercoated or nothing at all. As I said, I don't know what you need to do for chrome wheels, but I have seen powdercoated GXP wheels.

no the tint stuff is for headlights and taillights. just was wondering since it allows light to shine through would it work.

i'd imagine that if you don't powdercoat the tint with eventually come off with cleaning or chip real bad

GXP rims are not chrome, they're polished aluminum with a clear.

I have no idea if that changes the method to strip them, etc but I would think it does.

I'm sure some good 'ol airline paint stripper will do the trick...it has worked on basically everything I've ever put it in...and it sure does cut grease good.

Maybe because its just labled paint stripper and its really acid LOL

the rustoleum stuff says chrome or polished wheels so it should work either way.

I'm sure sulfuric acid would work too.

what youre talking about doing is best left to a nice powdercoat. you can't paint that.

Please post pics once you've been able to experiment, I'd like to see them. Good luck.

Someone else (I think on a diff site) had a maroon (not sure of the technical color) GXP and had their rims powdercoated about the color you're talking about.
