Thread: sylvania silver stars

i have led halo projectors (the kind dash z sells, with the 3 l.e.ds bulbs next to the turn sig bulb). I changed all my bulbs to sylvania silver stars, hi/low beams and fogs. Prior to the swap, my low beam visiblity was fine, hi beam wasnt so great (beams formed a spot in front of car), and the fogs were fine. Now, the low's SUCK and the hi is great and the fogs are great. Why did i lose visibilty with my lows. I thought silver star were posed to be hot ish????

these aftermarket projectors do not adjust. its not aimed bad, its the light out put.

Note all of those brightness ratings are comapred to a stock bulb at 80% light output.

so its 30% brighter than a bulb at 80% brightness....

thats only 4% brighter than a new stock bulb.

50% brighter is 20% brighter.

i got a set of Silverstar Ultra that i used for 2 weeks before i got my hids.

thanks a bunch guys, and matt man were in THE world do you get your info??? u truly should change your name to MR.TECHNICAL (seriously and i dont mean to offend you if i did).... but the guy that suggested the silver star ultra's, they dont make a h3 bulb. and to the guy that said his silver stars are good, they probably are since they are 9004? (or something like that) and i got silver star fogs and yes they are good. And this set of projectors does not recommend you use H.I.D'S (i think they might get too hot for the housing) sooo therefore i will be saving up for some spyder halo's with a H.I.D. kit

I just read the packaging at work since everyone kept asking me "are they really that much brighter" and then I saw the fine print....

War here hit the spot on the silverstars. For that reason I'd suggest the bulb he listed there, or perhaps the nighthawk platinum's. The nighthawks seem to be the same design as well as the same claim of 90% more light on the road.

Note that is for the platinums only. Regular nighthawks are just not worth it. 50% for 4% more light and a shorter life.

$60 is what they cost here.

Thats as much as a VVME kit.

I'll never buy a cheap HID kit again after having my Diode dynamics one fail on me after 8 months.

Something like the kits that theretofitsource sells is something i'd look for.

Stock headlights though? get the platinums if you do driving out in the country or anywhere where the roads are not lit at night.

Its really asking me to put a price on your safety.... Difficult to say

If you have stock headlights I'd suggest you stick with halogen because those will result in the most light on the road, where you need it.

HID kits seem to spread the light everywhere rather than on the road.
