I've noticed that heated seats only come with leather seats. Is there a reason for this? Are cloth seats not able to handle the heat?

Some cloth of other manfacturers are heated. It's possible, but most don't find it necessary. With leather..well...there's no other way to fly.
If I had cloth seats..they'd be heated.
I'm thinking about modifying my seats to include it using the heated seats howto. Just using the cloth cover instead. I'm just not a big fan of leather seats. Might even attempt the power lumber while I'm at it.
I'm aiming for that myself come better JY'ing weather and a couple cars wtih something nice for a lumbar
Cloth sears are able to handle heated seats but they are rare since cloth is the base covering for seats. The reason why they are seen in leather cars is because leather is seen as "luxurious" and thats what heated seats go under ("luxurious").
I asked this to a local shop (more of just a guy who owns his own business) and that is what he told me cause I was contemplating putting in heated seats into my car.
On top of the base.. sit on each seat cold. Leather will send you looking for heat.
Remote start and heated seats here in Northern Illinois I'm set. But that is strange you mention that, my cousin's Subaru has heated seats with cloth, I always found that a bit odd.
thats with an after market kit but theres something you guys arnt considering, most of these heating elements get hot enough to warm a much denser material than the cloth on your seats. If I put my drivers seat on high it gets hhhhoooottt! If they were cloth those elements would burn you! So all im sayin is there is a reason there are few heated cloth seats and be careful.
Well, thunder was right. The heating elements are sewn into the leather. So, what I did was remove all the leather around the velcro part. I'm going to leave it attached to the leather and try to put my cloth over top of it. So not only will I have the denser material to heat but I'll have more cushion. Who couldn't use a little more cushion on a 97. Couple more questions now that I've started. 1.) How do you get the head rests off? 2.) How do you remove the back part of the seat? I looks like it's held in place with big rivets.
