Our plastic headlights are completely crap...just nasty. I want to get some new ones...that have glass lenses. Anyone make a decent set?
This is for a 2004 model, by the way.

Just yellowed? There are actually some kits out there that do a good job clearing them up.
I don't want to band-aid the problem.
rockauto has them for like 30 something a side and they work great, clear as day. They are not glass because i dont think they make glass ones
I'll hit up rockauto and see if they have glass. Thanks.
Pretty positive they only have plastic capsules.
Buddy, glass isnt legal in the US.
unless they sold the car in europe then you're not going to find any.
Considering my motorcycles all have glass lenses, our commercial trucks all have glass lenses, and my Chevy Express has glass headlights (as does any other vehicle that uses sealed beams), I think you're mistaken.
You're more than welcome to show me some kind of proof, though...like USDOT statute or at least a generic article that says they're illegal.
They don't make glass lights on many stock vehicles any more becuase plastic is cheaper and easier.
explain why the E36 in america had plastic headlights and in europe had glass ones...

You're not going to find DOT approved glass lenses. That alone makes them illegal. These lights are not DOT approved for use on US public roads. So they are *technically* illegal and for off-road use only.
Some States require DOT biannual inspections (inspectors search for DOT marking on all lighting). In this case, one *might* have a glass shop etch DOT makings into the glass lenses of the Euro lights (removing glass covers can be accomplished by bending back the plastic tabs on the top and bottom of the light assembly). I am not suggesting that however! J Enjoy your new lighting!
I'm not saying glass period is illegal, but they are not made for our market hence they arent put through safety testing.
That's exactly what you said.
I didn't ask for legal headlights, either. I have legal headlights...which are garbage. I get more light from my single 4" sealed 6vdc 30-year-old XL250 than my Grand Prix...but they are not made for our market hence they arent put through safety testing.
What I asked for are good glass lights. I'll have illegal headlights if it means having good, safe light.
OMG why are we argueing about this.
you cant buy GLASS headlight for a gp, end of story. just get teh one off rockauto, they work great.
Lulz.
Guess what happens when you get in an accident without legal headlights.
Same thing as if you get rear ended with tinted tails.
You're toast.
Good luck finding the glass lenses.
If they exist they're illegal.
But i highly doubt they exist.
I mean unless you want to go back to sealed beam instead of composite lighting...
Okay lets start this over.
Glass isn't illegal in the US.
Glass headlights for a GP are illegal in the US.
Glass lenses on an 04+
Thats a riot.
LOL
