I'll just let the pictures do the talking. I've wanted to get rid of the cig assembly for a LONG time. I finally did it. yay.

First off, here it is without the lighter tray. The radio is a Pioneer DEH-6200BT with HUmount.

And here it is finished. I didn't get a full night shot so combine these two photos in your head lol. The power unit is a super cheap one from ebay. I intended the first one only to be a mockup prototype but it worked so well that I wont need another.

This was the prototype made of plywood.

This is the stock wire harness. Its perfect for what I wanted it for so I used it. The cig lighter is a constant 12Volts and the light socket is a dimable .5-12Volts:

I pressed a piece of steel into the plexi glass with heat. The power unit bolts on to this:

This is the back of the finished unit. It will plug in just as the stock cig lighter would. It also mounts with the same two screws as the stock unit:

I wrapped the plexi with carbon fiber vinyl to make it look nice. I'll be replacing the incandescents in the kick panels and under the panel here with red LEDs:

Mounted the droid while I had the dash torn apart. The mic for the stereo, usb charge cable, and aux in cable lead to the stereo and power panel.
The Bluetooth OBDII unit is on its way from China :

I had some leftover carbon fiber vinyl so I did these for the hell of it.

Actually, the bigger piece didn't work so well in the end so I had to take off the vinyl. It doesnt do so well with curves. It came undone on the inside corners. I coudn't figure out how to keep it from coming loose so I scrapped the idea. The small part looks great though.

I would've modified the dash some more for the droid. Otherwise, I think it looks pretty decent, too bad you have THAT color. :P

Yeah they're swappable. Mine is red, but it came from Canada, so when I got the car I had to rip the dash apart to take it out and change it from C* to F* since I'm American and they don't teach us metrics and Celsius here.

Is the Droid mount, just a suction cup mount or what?

In what way would you modify the dash? I'm trying to keep it as stock as possible... IDK why... but I'm always open to suggestions.

How did that work? Is there a selector switch on the unit someplace?

Haha, I was wondering if anybody was going to notice that.

Yes, the Droid mount is the standard suction cup mount with the built in magnet for enabling "car mode." I have it turn on bluetooth, turn off wifi, and set the media volume all the way up for the music.

Here is a pic of the mount from my phone while it was mounted.

You can see in this pic the hole I cut for the camera lens.

The reason why I asked is b/c I found a cheap alternative awhile back to mount a phone.
