2004 Grand Prix GT2 (HID Headlights)

I'm new to the forum as you guys can probably tell. Anyways, I'm interested in getting some HID Headlights for my car, but as for brand and all that stuff I'm not totally sure which would be a dependable brand. I've been reading around and seeing that I may need a conversion kit for them. Me and my uncle were gonna hook them up ourselves after I found a pair that are dependable and worth the money.

Someone mentioned that it would be best to pick up a pair that have a year warranty on them as well that are 35 watt instead of 55 watt as they have a less chance of melting my headlamps or whatever and also have a less chance of burning out quicker.

So pretty much I was wondering if you guys could maybe give me a idea of everything that I'm going to need, if I'm gonna need a conversion kit or not? I was looking into getting the 6000k or 8000k ones. I don't wanna blow my money on some lights only to find out they're not true HID. The ones I've seen are usually around 65-75$ a kit.

My next set of HIDs are going to be purchased from DDM Tuning. They are really cheap $40 a set + $15 for a relay harness (A must have). I have no experience with them BUT I have looked around and they have gotten good reviews. Plus they have a LIFETIME warranty!

Do a little searching on Google and read some of the reviews!

Buy from DDM tuning first off...they really are the best for HID kits.

35w vs 55w will not melt the housings. Thats a myth people started and the 55watt bulbs burn no hotter then the stock halogen bulbs.

6000k will have the most lumens (more light) the higher that number goes the less output you have.

As for future reference I do not condone the use of HID kits in a Halogen housing headlight, its illegal for a reason. But people are gonna do what they are gonna do. I finally got tired of people flashing me and the scattered beam pattern so I made my own Headlight/Fog light setup. I am 1 of 3 people with a projector retro in a 04+ GP, the reason Projector headlights are a bit hard for our cars is because of the space limitations; I literally had to cut some of the frame of the car to make my headlights work but I love my output

Sweet, I'll have to check out that site. I have a few other questions concerning HID's.

- What exactly does the conversion kit do?

- As I said before I'm really worried about the lights getting really hot and melting **** lol but like you said that may be just a myth, so any information would be helpful so I could prevent that from happening

- Lastly, I planned on not only doing my headlights but my foglights as well. As for getting a kit, I would need a total of 3 kits to do my low beam, high beam, and fog lights, correct? If I were to only buy the low beam and fog light ones, would that prevent me from being able to use my high beam lights til I was able to pick up a kit for those as well?

Conversion kit...really isn't a conversion just plug-n-play. It plugs into the stock plug which runs to the igniter/ballasts then out to the bulb.

Headlights won't melt. Trust me. Like I said the bulbs get hot but no hotter then a stock halogen bulb. Your fine.

Don't do high beams, HID kits can take up to a full minute to reach full power, not very useful at that point. Just get the 9006 (lowbeam) and 880 (foglights)

But I will warn you now, the foglights are the worst for HIDs in this car, they blind everyone.

on my 2004 gt2 the foglight lenses are upside down from yours (my ambers are on the top)...it would explain the blinding people with hid in your fog lights they are supposed to put a "bar of light" directly in front of the car,but upside down they would aim upwards

Don't really know much about HIDs or Projector Bulbs except the Projector Bulbs are pretty expensive. I want to put in some aftermarket bulbs but I did want to spend $200-$400 doing so. What type of housing should one use for HID bulbs. Also, I watched ur yourtube vid and I must say I love ur setup. Do you have HIDs or Projector headlights or were you saying you have projector headlight housing.

Littlefoot, his fogs aren't upside down. Those are projectors with 3k hids. And I get brighted for my fogs shooting up too high and I have halogen bulbs in it
