Hi, I just bought a pre-cut tinted window kit for my '95 GP and i have seen how-tos and vids on the internet showing them shrinking the tint to the back glass of different cars but all of the vids i've seen has been using a roll of tint and none precut.

since i bought precut tint is this necessary? im looking for any useful advice on this and if all goes well i might be looking into doin it part time in my area. thanks for any replies!

Yes even if it's pre-cut you will still need to heat shrink it to the curve of the window. Btw, it's not as easy as it looks...

yea thats what ive been told from different resources off the internet....everyone makes it seem easy tho and right now my tint is purple with bubbles every where so even if this tint job isnt the best im hopin itll look better than what it is now...plus my parents bought tint for their jeep grand cherokee so i can get a lil practice in on it. im also sorta a perfectionist on this type of stuff and ive heard as long as you take ur time and be patient you''ll be fone...everyone wish me luck =)

also which technique would be easiest to shrinking the tint? ive heard of ppl using baby powder, wet dryer sheets etc.

and can i use a blowdryer or is it absolutely necessary to use a heat gun?

Make sure your glass is spotless when applying the tint, as for shrinking spray some water on the tint and use a heat gun and a sqeege to pull out the little waves vertically. Use lots of water when handling the tint, also a drip of dish soap is good in there too... It takes some time to do a good job on it.

Nope not a good idea, gotta do it from the inside. That is the way it was intended to use anyways, heat shrink it on the outside then apply it on the inside.

Emart - where are you in Ohio? I had around $100 in my 4 dr a few months ago from Buckeye Sun Control. I'm not sure it's even worth the hassle of trying it yourself for that

We're 3 hours away from you. You can probably find someone closer for a good price, I'm sure. If not and you feel like driving, let me know and I'll get you their number.
