Does anyone know how to safely remove the headlight and corners front cover? I want to do this for several reasons:

    1. The corners have leaks from the front cover edges, they are already kind of loose.
    2. I want to buy the headlight set like the one in the image below and my ultimate goal is to have my car look like the one in the picture minus the hood scoops. Problem is that a set of headlights like those here in Mexico cost 300+ dollars. I could buy them off ebay, but the shipping itself is 120 dollars.
    3. The set mentioned above seems to be exactly like the stock headlights except the inside has been painted black except for the reflective surface at the back. If that's the case, I'd like to try and paint them myself if I can remove the cover without breaking it.

Anyone has any Ideas? Or has anyone bought these type of headlights before? are my assumptions correct?

    Thanks!

I've never done this but talked to people who have. What i know about this is that you need to either take a good heat gun and melt the glue, then gently pry it all apart...maybe get a razor in there to, to assure that is all seperated. Also i was told to use a dremel with a small cut off wheel, then just use a good glue (I love Seal-All) and clear silicon to put em back together. And i was also looking at those headlights but i'm doing projectors!

Hmmm, I wonder how much heat would be needed to loosen that glue. Maybe I can put the units in the microwave? hehe crazy but it might work if the plastic doesn't accumulate the heat.

I'll see what I can find to heat them and give it a shot next week. I just spend the whole afternoon sealing them with silicone for now and aligning them. The corners are in bad shape on the inside, the reflective stuff has banished a lot.

Put them in the oven...on a low temp...and watch them...eventually you will be able to pull them apart with a screwdriver or small chisel...seriously.

    Then reseal them and reinstall.

X2 I have did that before but on Honda Lights. What i did was preheat the oven for 10 mins, then turn it off, then put down Aluminium foil so the head lamp won't touch the hot metal & melt it then let it sit for 5 to 10 mins & then just use a flat head screw driver to pull it apart.

yup x3 on the oven, let it sit in there for a few minutes and then use a screw driver to pull them apart, careful though. you might crack the lens if you use to much force.

I did that on my old monte carlo, it worked good, but the I could never get them to seal up right. Oven is the best way to go to loosen it all up.
