I had 18' with 225-50-18 tires and they looked ok but the car sat to high. Then I got lower pro tires 225-40-18 and now they are looking really small. I've also noticed my suspension getting worse. I'm getting a gtp soon so I want to know what you guys think is the best size rim and tire. Thanks!

It's really up to you in the end on what size wheel/tire setup you go with. I've got 17x7.5's with 255/50-17 tires on it and I love the way it handles, rides, and looks.

Do you want fairly inexpensive tires and a cushy ride? Stick with 16's
Do you want a mix of performance and decent ride quality? 17"-18"
Do you want big wheels, solid handling, and a fairly harsh ride? 18"+

245/45-17's are easy to find and fairly inexpensive in certain brands, but they're a little smaller diameter than stock.

245/50-17's are nearly identical in diameter to stock tires, but not easy to find, nor cheap.

I haven't shopped for 18's, so I can't tell you much about pricing, but 245/45-18's are very close to stock height.

I want something that gives the same ground clearance as the stock 16's maybe a little lower but also fill up the wheel well. Even though the stock tires are 225, you can run 245 without any problems? I haven't tried any different sizes so I wouldn't know.

And to be honest, I don't know a thing about offset. I think it's something to do with how far the rim comes out of the brakes. Also what offset would be good to have a flush look between the wheels and fender?

They are called Platinum Attitude Silver, They came with the car when I got them and were wrapped around 225-50-18, but then one of them was unblanced and started exposing wires. So I changed them all for 225-40-18 but they look small now, I think I might go for a 225-45-18 next time.

What are 45 or 55 series tires? I've never heard of such a thing lol
And I really couldn't tell you how wide they are, how could I find out? I'm guessing they are on the rim somewhere...

So I can fit wider tires on the 18's right now? So if I have 225's I can put 245's without a problem? Sorry I'm new to this lol

And I'm still clueless about offset :P

    245 / 45 / 18 = tire width / tire sidewall height / rim size

they are all in millimeters besides the wheel size which is in inches. 245/45/18 will keep the stock overall diamater of the tire which will keep your speedometer accurate.

offset determines how far in or out of the fender the wheel sits. the lower the offset, the farther out the wheel sticks. stock offset is +52mm which is pretty high. a normal rim size will be in the +45mm area, but if youre looking for a flush look with the fenders then youll have to push the offset into the +38mm area or less. the wheels start to stick out of the fenders and rub pretty badly past +35mm unless you do some work to the fenders.

ohh I got you, so a +38mm offset is fine as in I don't have to do anything to the fenders from keeping it from rubbing agaisnt it? Do rims come with this kind of offset or would I need a wheel spacer?

So could I put 245/45/18 tires on my current rims that have 225/40/18 tires on them? I know the Tire Sidewall doesn't matter but would it mount on if its a wider tire?

And what would you guys suggest?

    245/45/18's
    or
    250/50/17's

Not looking for a crazy look or anything just a nice sporty look.

    Thanks for the help guys

17s are lighter and tires are cheaper. 18s look better overall, but will cost more.

rims come in all sorts of offsets, you just have to look. a +38mm might rub depending upon your suspension and the tires you buy, but the likelihood is much less than if you were to go with a wider rim and a lower offset.

you can put 245/45/18 on your rims as is and be fine. i would actually suggest it.

So I'm liking the look of 18's but I probably go with 17's because they are cheaper. Probably will get a lower offset probably anywhere from 45-38mm offset. Any nice rims you guys have in mind that I should look into getting?
