Oh thats so purdy. I have a Gen V in my 2007 GP GT. Whats yours in.
I started with some sanding rolls and a die grinder to knock down some of the casting on the blower. Next bought some greaseless compound from Eastwood. I bought the 4pk kit that came with 80,120,220 and 320 grit. To get in all the tight corners I used a dremel with sanding drums. I took a 1/8 drill bit and cut a notch down the center of it to use in my dremel. Then I cut some 320 & 600 grit sand paper into small pieces and wrapped them around my modded drill bit to finish off the tight areas. Next I wet sanded the entire thing with 600 & 1000 grit to get things smoothed out. Now comes the part that makes you smile. There are 3 different compounds I used for the polishing. Some people say not to use the black compound but I did and had good results. After the black I cleaned the sc off with brake parts cleaner and then polished with the brown compound. I was using my dremel with a flex shaft and polishing wheel to get in the tight spots and I used my Dewalt
drill with a polishing wheel to do everything else. Make sure you use a new wheel with a different compound. Next I used the white compound with a softer wheel. The final step was a Mothers power ball and Mothers aluminum liquid polish.
That's a quick write up of the polishing process. SC are a real time consuming piece to polish because of all the corner, curves, ect. If you plan I doing this yourself make sure you have enough time and patience.
Seeing as I have a spare blower sitting on a self in the garage might aswell try polishing it And building my patients level for such things
When i swapped the old one for the one that in my car now i just hit it with a paint stripping wheel to knock the oxidation off and that seemed like a lot of work lol
looks mint. if i had an extra blower, and a polishing wheel i would do this.
