Ive got the standard GP faded headlights, they also have some water vapor in them.
I know i can wet sand then buff to get rid of the haze, but is tehre a way i can remove the water and seal em back up?

i havnt taken em off the car yet to see formyself, but i figured Id ask first before i break my sh*t lol

mine had water inside them, so i took the headlight assembly off and took all the bulbs out. then i took my air compressor and jsut blew air in the main hole for a lil bit and it just blew all away. its worked so far for the past week.

stick them in the oven at 200% for like 15 mins and then you can open them up and scrap all the old sealant off them and then dry the inside out and reseal them.

The watery headlights is supposed to be mainly a 97-98 problem <bad OEM sealant>, but can probably hit any car.

I pulled the Drive side off the '98, and it was so trashy inside I tried to pry the clear part from the silvered black plastic. No go, until I filled the damn thing up with water and traced the dribble. Go figure. It was leaking right where a tear duct would be, if the thing was an eyeball, looking from the front, the left most point, at the seam. I also found out that when I carefully pried with a small screwdriver where it was leaking, the weak sealant allowed the 2 parts to almost easily begin to separate. The clear half is grooved into the base at an angle, not "straight in" as I assumed it would be, so starting on the sharp corner and working around top and bottom towards the marker side, is physically the best way to pry em apart.

The shell had been leaking for so long, there was dirt residue inside, which is why I wanted to get it apart. A little dish soap and water inside both sides, and it was good as new, inside anyway...
Scraping the old sealant off is a pain in the azz. I used Clear silicone to rejoin them, after they air dried a bit. I need to refinish the outside again with finer sandpaper, and more patience.

I saw somewhere, prolly on uboob, a guy doing a headlight refinish. He started at 600 grit paper then in stages to 2000. I saw the one point he made repeatedly was that after each stage of sanding the entire surface should appear uniformly hazy. He then hit em with Clear, then polishing compound. They really did look excellent. I might take a step further, spray clear, then wet-sand at 2000, mineral spirits, then another clearcoat. Then polish.
I might worry about it, after the TRANSMISSION is back in the car...

Yeah i was able to split mine and reseal em proper

i started at 400 and worked my way up to 2000 when they were done they were smooth as glass and hazy, soon as i hit em with the polishing compound they got clearer, i dont think id be able to get em back to factory invisable lol

And Dont HID's require a whole big set up and stuff?
i know myself i hate driving at night and getting blinded by peoples headlights, i dont wanna do that to other people.. yet.. lol
maybe when i get some decent looking headlihts ill make em good, but thats probably going to happen after winter so for now ill just replace the bulbs.
