Supplies! Errr.... Surprise! Got a new hood a while back and finally getting it done. My old hood had a few waves in it from the time I owned the car, so this was definitely something I needed to do.

So, the garage will be empty for a while. Mystie and I dropped the GTP off with my painter today. He is shooting to have it done by next weekend, but I told him to keep it as long as he wanted since it looks like the weather is going to turn bad again this coming week anyway. The hood has a few things that need corrected and he is going to take care of those as well as repaint my front bumper cover and blend it all with the rest of the car. He is painting the entire underside of the hood for me and he is also going to trim off the underhood mat retaining flange thingys. Since I am not going to use a hood mat, I didn't see the point of leaving them sticking out. He also agreed today to spot in a scratch that has always been on the right rear of the back bumper cover.

Here's a few pics I snapped yesterday. This hood is completely unpainted. It's never even been mounted on a car until yesterday, so it's as new as new gets. When it gets back I'll just need to fab up some grills for the heat extracters and Reptile is coming through for me (once again) with a brand new drip tray.

Me too. I'd love to have an F1 hood, but for the deal I worked out for this hood, I can live with my second favorite.

YAY! She's home! I have to be honest... I'm thrilled with the results!

At Mike's (my bodyman/painter) when we picked it up. His hose was frozen, so it didn't get a final wash so it's still quite dusty.

    NO MORE ROCK CHIPS! (yet)

    Finally home

Hey! No more huge scratch on the back bumper!

    Perfect match

Here's the inside. Painted and cleared as I requested. I did not want the drip tray painted, so he did that on purpose. Also, you'll notice that since I do not use the hood blanket, all the hooks that hold it in place have been shaved off the hood and the drip tray so nothing sticks out and looks out of place.

Looks real nice. I love that style hood. I just got a set of heat extractors and will be doing this real soon too. Do you have all the measurements as to where they are to be placed? I also need a drip try for under them If you know of anywhere I could get one.

I don't, but I'm pretty sure there is a write up here for it. This was an actual Special Edition hood, so they were already cutout.

    Ahh, here it is... http://www.grandprixforums.net/hood_heat_extractor.php

I bought a brand new drip tray from the dealer since the hood didn't come with one.
