Nothing wrong with just masking the tires and doing a nice job with regular spray paint for twenty-thirty bucks worth of stuff. Of course prep work is important. If you use black then put plenty of clear over it, you should be able to buff that up fairly shiny with polish by hand. It would look like the body does, pretty much.

IMO, the only pro for plasti-dip is that you can remove it. Con is that it is more expensive than paint.

Personally I wouldn't do gold unless the interior is tan. I can't answer any questions about dip. Really the only thing I think might last on wheels is body shop refinish paint, just like on the rest of the car. Catalyzed acrylic or better yet polyester urethane woud be like a factory finish. Paints that do not use a hardener can be wiped off with solvent, if removal of the coating is potentially a future issue.

Those snow wheels look good, Bronco. PlastiKote is good spray paint.

Well, I've been using DupliColor and doing spot repairs on my bumpers (car is black). When using it, clearcoating definitely makes both a gloss and durability improvement. So even though I have little experience with PlastiKote, I can say you will probably be happier if you do use clear. Lets wait and see if BB can swing back through and tell us how it holds up though. In my experience, without clear the gloss dies in a few months. With clear will do same but later. Having plenty of clear over the black gives you something to polish up when that happens. If you're fairly certain you'd like just shiny black forever, prep and mask them and find somebody to paint them with good bodyshop black and clear. Do that right, and they will shine like crazy plus wash or wipe clean for many years.

This stuff. But its not wheel paint (don't know the technical differences though). The color is #100 "universal black" which is slightly browner than the GM WA8555 code paint thats on the body. Close enough though, I have it on my roof rails and it doesn't stand out so it should look fine on wheels.

Large panels would not look that good! Only did the top part of that bumper. Plus if its always facing the sun that kills paint quicker (like hood and trunk) so you'll want real paint there unless what you have is bad ugly.
