I bought a "built" transmission first from guy on clubgp.. just to get gmr chain. before they were easier to get there for a while. Last 1 day at the
track and was totally trashed. ISS was damaged, clutches all worn to hell with only "700 miles" i was told.. **** was loose or to tight inside, and
number of other things done wrong by the builder.
I had PRJ build a trans for me through his guy that has done my daily driver one years ago plus a few others. A lot of $ I guess, but I was able to do 100+ passes
with mostly in the 10s with only real issue being the ZZP converter. GMR 1", GMR Diff, intense input shaft, 4th gear deleted, ISS deleted, alot of the "soft" stuff removed
to make it shift as hard/fast as possible. I wanted a trans that could last a season of beatings..
Dave has it now doing some refresh work and new goodies, and said only thing "bad" was 3rd was just showing some wear. I didn't have the 3rd gear sonnax piston as it
released the same week the trans got finished. With that and daves new clutchs should clean that up. With the triple disc locking converter, my RPMS should drop way down
in 3rd as im doing 6800+ rpm through the traps and barely getting any more power to the ground. Did 10.49@134 with a 1.7x 60 foot @ 19psi.. and 10.41@132 with a 1.56 @21psi...
More boost, more converter slip.. Get through the 1/8th quicker, but after that things hit a wall.
Current setup you have + new trans + good converter - tc slip would net you some nice gains.
To be honest, PRJ did all the trans work when he had it.. But looking it over, nothing really all that special. Adjusted for no 4th gear and the hall effect sensor pickup
so gearing settings a bit different. I assume he used Tiny Tuner / PT / HPT to get any all things changed. I can send you my bin file to look over if you want. I tend not
to touch the trans settings as he usually gets it pretty spot on first time and no reason for me to touch it at all as it just works.
If you think this will be kind of a last hurrah for the project car setup... either pull one of the 2 PCS wires to the pcm to insure max pressure or wire up a toggle switch.
VERY HARD on parts, but if its already on its way out and don't mind putting the hurt on things or breaking it totally, might be worth while to reduce as much slip as
possible.
Thanks for the info. Yes I know my biggest limiter right now is the trans. I feel that any more power will be 100% wasted. My Traps never change no matter what boost I run over 22 psi...
but my 1/8 mile E.T. improves. Best acceleration happens from 60 foot to 500 feet. Then the trans starts slipping at higher RPM in 2nd gear and when shifting to 3rd gear, more slip.
I have a few people ask me at the track how we converted the trans to a 2speed as the 1-2nd is quick enough that not even done with the 60 foot yet before it shifts, and the RPM is over
6000rpm after the shift so it doesn't sound all that much different... gets it down the 1/8th quick with 105mph 1/8ths.. like to be over 110mph whenever i can go back one day.
Also i shot ya a PM with my email.. hit me up![]()
people go way too high on their stall and it hurts the backhalf
getting out of first right off the line does help alot to the 60/330
dont skimp on the trans and have em calc the stall speed to yer tq curve
you have your downshifts eliminated/reduced at all? our track bins eliminate down but the street file enables at bottom end where the lower gear is usable for at least 3/4 of its range.
if the tables not red its not right lol
manual 2-3 is weaker than auto with the 60/65e iirc
we'd be in the mid 10s by now if we didnt have to screw with constant trans failures for the last few years.
we now have a trans thats a few cards short of a full retard GMR trans.
love me sum 80e
has anyone put a 80e into the single digits yet? Just wondering... on paper the 80e seems like a better fit with
all its beefyness... but I haven't seen any real results yet? I don't keep up with this crap as much as I use to,
so I may be out of the loop.. I know Dave has his running now.. but no real solid numbers yet out of him.
yes sir, its been done. looks mean in there too. http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...ts-on-the-road!
Thats the one Im talking about, Dave.. at TEP.. where my trans is at currently getting new goodies.. Got to see the setup in there before car ran...
He has it running.. but i'd like to see 100+ passes, 1.6-1.4 60 foots, low 10, high 9 second runs over and over to see the true durability and worth.
Does it get 5 runs.. 50 runs.. 100 runs.. 300 runs.. whatever until whatever is totally nuked and what the weak points are.
Its bigger.. yes.... but at this moment, is it worth going yet without worry of exploding it with 600+ whp builds..
4t65e the best? hell no.. but it can be made work. I have over 100 passes mostly in the 10s with no problems other then the ZZP converter slip. My fault for
cheaping out on that for some reason I can't think of why anymore.. It can be made to last awhile if you hate having money laying around and have the right person
build it that knows what they are actually doing.

we abused the **** outta the WhippledRiv's 80e, even WOT/full boost in 4th.
the IS can handle far more than the stock 65 just from the dimensional differences
for a 2 speed conversion the 80e's ratio's are tits and youd get it down to the 65e weight
New turbo been broken in at the track. Today its street cars and zero glue on the track zero traction.
My gtp was king nothing close. Ran 11.3 @ 127mph with a ****ty 2.0 60 foot. Wow.
Very happy most 10 sec cars run 12.x on a street fridat night. I spun till the 1/8 mile lol. Half tracked the poor souls that chose me as a victim.
