I'm looking for some feedback on which Fuel Pump I should run. Est. HP is between 550 - 650. I saw a few threads about a racetronics setup

Racetronics is a good pump. I plan on more than likley puttin a sump on my stock tank and run an areomotive pump. Would cost just as much and have no issues with a fuel pump ever again. And would also not have to rorry about a hot wire and all of that crap.

If your serious about a 600+WHP build that you never want to worry about again. Get an external inline pump. Aeromotive pumps are nice but weldons are alot more reliable and are underrated HP wise. Also the aeromotive pumps are not ment to push the kind of fuel pressure high boost turbo cars see.
If you are sticking with a in-tank walbro. Consider an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator(consider this for both setups), Boost-a-pump, Fuel pump rewire/hotwire, hi-flow fuel filter. That setup might get you to the fueling you want but it would be pushing everything near its limit.

you will have 20 burned out Aeromotive pumps before you even have a little glitch with a Weldon!
So what are some good weldon inline pumps that can be used? Or were you guys talking about intank pumps?

As far as i know weldon doesnt make a high volume intank pump
They have alot of options for inline pumps(inline with AN fittings and SS braided hose,not stock lines). The 2015 pump would handle a 600HP build just fine. Quite a few people have made over 800WHP with them
Yes. Those pumps will require easy flow in and out to not burn up. They can get real hot from having to work 3-4 times harder then they should. Most of the pumps are -10 to -12 feeds with at least -8 outlets. You could just sump the stock tank but a fuel cell could be a better route depending on how good you are at fabricating fuel systems. When making that choice tho consider how you fill the tank up.
Only reason for using braided hose is for simplicty and easy to find parts. You could use larger tube and bend it all up, but that can be come a big project for some people
Not for me. I would rather use hard tube that would be a bigger size. Like maybe 1/2 then to use braided all the way. Plus it would be waaaay cheaper.

Well our drag cars setup would not work that well as an exampe seeing as its in the front bumper. Bob Cook & Matt Ms car wouldnt work well either because of the lack of frame if your trying to get an example of routing.
Fuel cells can be mounted in the stock tank location. If the cell doesnt have sump make sure the you route the lines coming out the rear.
If i can dig up some pics ill post them. Scott cooks 98 GP would be the best example a full frame w-body with a rear mounted fuel cell setup.
as for other pumps.....cost becomes a big factor. The real problem is there is not a great mid level fuel pump that is extremly reliable. Either you choose an in-tank and throw every little acc at it to try and keep up or you go big and probably have a setup thats a bit overkill.
From what Ive heard Duckcalls delphi pump seemed to handle very well....but I dont think any info was released on it

I would perfer to put it in the trunk. It would have to be big enough to still be my daily driver. So at least 10 gallon cell I would think. I'm sure it would be quite a bit in weight savings also. So that would be another benefit.
I found a 12 gallon cell that would actually fit in the spare tire section. That acompaniied with some custom brackets to hold it in place. Then just cut out a section so the sump can go through the bottom. Then just go under the car and run you're lines...What do you think?
Have you measured to make sure that cell will fit without issue? The stock tank has a unique shape. And its hard to get a clear idea of the area with the tank in place.
We would have to see pics of the cell to tell you if it would work but most of the time the you can just spin the tank and use the feeds that come with the cell(depeing on the cell).
If you want to put the cell in the trunk then you have to sheet metal the backseat pass through and cover any holes in the speaker deck that are open(gutted cars). You could carpet over the sheetmetal if thats what you want to do.

I was talking about putting the fuel cell in the trunk and just removing the stock tank compleatly. Just making sure you know what i'm talking about.
Now I get what your saying, had it a little confused. Yes that would work as long as you dont mind the fill up. Thats not a bad price for a foam filled unit. You can probably get away with drilling just for the hose to pass through the spare tire well. Use rubber gromets or the type that hold the hose in place.
Having a pre pump filter right after the hose passses through the tire well will make for easy draining of the tank. Just unscrew the filter end and let the cells sump do all the work.
Should be a nice setup.
I have a problem with buying a 600 dollar pump. Although it would just be about 200 dollars more to do the fuel system this way than to buy a BAP and different pump.
Is there another pump that you would recomend besides the weldon? I know we use to use the aerotomotive A1000 series for the mustangs and I have never heard of any problems with them.
I know weldon is an awesome pump but was just wondering if i had any other options.
what I said before sums it up. aeromotive is one of those mid level pumps I was talking about. Shoot Jeff kalo or matt m an email and ask for more info on the pump the impala used. We have discussed fuel systems in detail with many high end motor builders and not a single person said to go with the A1000 if going over 500HP with forced induction. You pay for what you get in the case of fuel pumps. There is a reason you see builds with thousands and thousands of dollars in their fuel systems. Nice part about weldon pumps also is they resale for decent money even after years of running. People know they have little to worry about and the cost to rebuild isnt that bad. A1000s can be picked up for cheap with low miles because the owners realized it wasnt keeping up with the fuel demand they needed.
Called matt and he said that he used a prototype delphi pump. And of coarse you can't buy one. He said he used stock lines,stock rails,stock FPR.
This is what prj performance said regarding the racetronics pump-
The Racetronix pump can support 700 WHP when run at 16-17 volts. We ran a Racetronix pump on a Whipple L67 build that made 537 WHP (STD) on the dyno and we saw no signs of fuel shortage from the pump monitoring the fuel pressure through the run at a stable 75 PSI.

The Racetronix pump will support 600 at the motor, but not 600whp.
I think i'm going to go with the Racetronics pump and harness. It's more than likley only going to be around a 550 HP build max.I know of a lot of other Buick GN and corvett C5 guys using this pump...so i think i will be ok with the goals that i have set. I'm not sure i would want to put anymore money into this car anyway.Plus putting another 1000 dollars into the fuel system would not be an option for me now.Especially just to be able to break the 550hp mark and not go much over that..
