I know my 88 Firebird isnt fast. I never try to race people at all. The one time I did I got smoked by a 03 suburban. I did get up to him. Having a l03, auto, and 2.77 is not a great racing combo. It does get great mileage tho. On the highway I can get 27-30mpg.

82-92 camaro motors are junk as far as power.....93-97 are the LT1's and the 98-02 are the LS1's........The LS1 was introduced in the 97 vettes(one year before the F-bodies) and some of the 01-02 F-bodies(camaros and firebirds) dyno'ed more WHP than the same year vettes due to the solid rear of the f bod's and the Independant rear of the vette.

Easy on the over generalization 82 - 92. Don't forget about the 87-89 Iroc-Z with the Twin Port. One of the baddest cars I've owned was the 87 Iroc, yellow with T-tops and non-stop Hair ballads cranked up.

in my opinion all of the v8 motors from 82-92 were very underpowered. My sister had a 92 with a 305 and my DOHC 3.4 in the lumina (91)z34 was just as fast if not faster. pathetic. All cars in that whole era were slow though.........go look at the specs for the vettes--all bad. Finally started to pick up in the 90's though.
